Delicious Dem Tears as Schiff, Swalwell Melt Down Over Getting the Boot – RedState

As we reported, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) held firm in the wake of Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) still proposing Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Rep. Eric Swalwell and said he wouldn’t be appointing them, that the Committee would now be one of “genuine honesty and credibility that regains the trust of the American people.” So they’re officially booted.

The pair — and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) who may also get the boot from the Foreign Affairs Committee — are melting down and throwing fits claiming that it’s about “political vengeance.”

CNN’s Manu Raju reported what the three were saying about McCarthy: “He struck a corrupt bargain in his desperate, and nearly failed, attempt to win the Speakership, a bargain that required political vengeance against the three of us.”

Swalwell was asked if there was any recourse, given the Intel Committee is a select committee so the Speaker is free to boot them.

Swalwell whined that they had to win in 2024 and take back control of the House. That and a quarter wouldn’t get him on a bus these days. Keep crying, Eric.

Schiff’s tantrum was the best.

“Kevin McCarthy just kicked me and @RepSwalwell off the Intelligence Committee,” Schiff ranted. “This is petty, political payback for investigating Donald Trump. If he thinks this will stop me, he will soon find out just how wrong he is. I will always defend our democracy.”

Play stupid games, and win stupid prizes. Democrats started the game of denying Republicans the ability to appoint who they wanted to committees and booting people off. They ran the ridiculously partisan Jan. 6 Committee by denying the Republicans the people they proposed for the Committee. So turnabout was fair play. But Schiff, Swalwell, and Omar also all had good reason — all on their own — to get the boot. Schiff and Swalwell can’t be trusted on the committees given Schiff’s lies and Swalwell’s relationship with a Chinese spy. And McCarthy wants to boot Omar for her inflammatory remarks about Israel that people view as anti-Semitic. So it’s been a long time coming, but it’s well-deserved delicious tears.

But booting Omar is a bit more complicated since unlike the Intel Committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee that she’s on a standing committee. So McCarthy will need the votes of Republicans and there are some Republicans who may not be on board with the move. It’s not clear yet that they have the votes yet because there are a few Republicans who appear to be balking on it.

Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN) and Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) are voting no, so it’s a question of whether Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) and Rep. David Valadao (R-CA) are on board with it.

Now the Democratic Steering Committee is recommending Schiff for the House Judiciary Committee. According to CNN’s Manu Raju, Swalwell was expected to be proposed for the Judiciary Committee and Homeland Security. Those are standing committees, so we’ll have to see if McCarthy has a response to that or if he’s going to not fight those proposals. Neither deserves to be on either of those committees. But it’s a win when Schiff and Swalwell can no longer put us in jeopardy on the Intel Committee.
