Demon Slayer's 10 Strongest Season 4 Characters

Demon Slayer is an action-packed shonen anime with a large handful of truly powerful fighters found on both sides of the slayers vs demons war in Japan. When the anime first launched, the strongest characters included the nine Hashira and thre twelve Moons under the command of Muzan Kibutsuji the demon king, but ever since then, the pantheon of the strongest Demon Slayer characters has shifted somewhat. By the end of Season 3, several strong characters were gone, and some formerly weak characters had risen to replace them.

With Season 4 of Demon Slayer on the horizon, fans will want to know who the strongest and most important fighters are and what they can do, which will help fans predict what will happen in Season 4. Demon Slayer fans have only gotten hints of what Doma is like so far in the anime, but they can rest assured that Doma is a fearsome fighter who can easily take on and probably defeat any Hashira he meets in battle. Doma is the Upper Moon 2, meaning he even outstrips Akaza, who was strong enough to kill Kyojuro Rengoku single-handedly. That said, Akaza doesn’t seem to take Doma entirely seriously.

So far, Doma has mostly been seen talking or goofng off in the Demon Slayer anime, such as when he appeared in a flashback concerning Daki and Gyutaro. He can also regenerate his flesh with remarkable speed, even when his head is sliced right in half. There’s no doubt Doma is a tough and resilient fighter, and on offense, he can hit back with his trademark war fans.

9 Akaza Is Eager to Face Tanjiro in Battle

Akaza has drawn the Demon Slayer fandom’s ire thanks to his cold-blooded murder of Kyokuro Rengoku during the final climax of the Mugen Train story arc. Enmu was already a scary opponent as the Lower Moon 1, but then Akaza arrived as the Upper Moon 3, and Tanjiro knew right away that he stood no chance against such a foe. Tanjiro was proven right when he saw Akaza and Kyojuro duel with incredible speed and technique.

Akaza is a martial artist who uses his Destructive Death style to pummel his foes into a pulp with astonishing speed and precision, which is how he stood up to Kyojuro’s advanced sword techniques. On defense, Akaza boasts some of the quickest regeneration Tanjiro has seen, restoring his arms afer just a second or two. And now that Kyojuro is dead, Akaza intends to fight Tanjiro Kamado with all these fearsome skills next.

8 Inosuke Hashibira Uses His Own Beast-Inspired Breathing Style

Inosuke Hashibira is a rare self-taught demon slayer who even invented his own fighting style, called beast breathing. Such a technique can take even veteran demons by surprise, since it’s not a mainstream style taught to new demon slayewrs, as opposed to flame breathing or mist breathing, for example. Inosuke modeled beast breathing’s forms after the movements of wild animals, often referring to fangs, tusks, and claws.

Inosuke is an incredibly durable fighter, and he is also recklessly aggressive, fearlessly attacking any foe with his trademark style. He also has sharp instincts thanks to his wild upbringng, allowing Inosuke to sense the presence of other animals, people, and demons around him, which was quite useful in Mount Natagumo’s Forest. All this helped Inosuke survive during an all-out battle against Daki, one of the two Upper Moon 6 demons.

7 Nezuko Kamado Has More Combat Experience Under Her Belt Than Ever

Nezuko Kamado may look like a cute and innocent girl, but she is actually a demon with ferocious powers. By nature, Nezuko doesn’t like bloodshed and violence, but if Tanjiro is threatened, Nezuko will gladly fight any demon with her claws, kicks, and her own blood demon art, Combustible Blood. She even helped her brother unlock the power of Hinokami Kagura while they fought Rui, the Lower Moon 5.

Nezuko is an agile fighter who leaps around the battlefield like an acrobat, dealing heavy damage with her kicks, which apppears to be her preferred style. If pushed, Nezuko can even assume an adult form, complete with leaf and vine patterns on her skin, which allowed her to briefly overpower Daki. More recently, in Season 3, Nezuko fought well against the Upper Moon 4, Hantengu, though it fell to Tanjiro to finish the job.

6 Mitsuri Kanroji Is Still Going Strong as the Muscle-Bound Love Hashira

Mitsuri Kanroji the Love Hashira made a charming first impression in Demon Slayer‘s first season, and she kept it up in the Swordsmith Village story arc as the Kamados’ newest friend. Mitsuri may be beautiful and flirty, but she is not gentle in battle. In fact, she is the physically strongest Hashira, having dense, powerful muscles, making her the opposite of the physically weak Shinobu Kocho. Mitsuri doesn’t need poisonous stings to slay demons — she can chop them up with brute force alone.

Mitsuri also has an unusual Nichirin sword, which features a long, ribbon-like blade that serves as a sharp whip in battle. That, combined with Mitsuri’s elite skills and extreme strength, allowed her to face Hantengu’s formidable final form and survive for quite some time until Tanjiro finished off Hantengu’s real body elsewhere. Also, just like her junior Muichiro Tokito, Mitsuri has awakened her demon slayer mark, boosting her power further.

5 Zenitsu Agatsuma Has Really Gotten the Hang of Thunder Breathing

When he first appeared, Zenitsu Agatsuma was an annoying crybaby who infuriated Demon Slayer fans, but he has upped his game since then. Zenitsu first demonstrated Thunder Breathing’s true power in Kyogai’s house, and then in the Entertainment District arc, Zenitsu used a more advanced form of Thunder Breathing to keep pace with Daki’s attacks.

Just surviving against an Upper Moon demon like Daki is a remarkable feat, proving that Zenitsu’s training at the Butterfly Estate has paid off greatly. Zenitsu didn’t get a chance to show off his skills in Season 3, but given his progress and his remaining potential, it’s clear he ranks among Demon Slayer‘s strongest characters going into Season 4.

4 Muzan Kibutsuji Still Looms as the Endgame Boss

The progenitor of all demons, Muzan Kibutsuji, has rarely been seen fighting. He usually sends the Moons to do his bidding for him while he remains holed up in his Infinity Castle hideout, but Muzan isn’t defenseless if demon slayers get too close. He has incredible powers that no othe demon can match, and he alone can create new demons. Just a light cut on someone’s skin is enough to begin the transformation.

It was Muzan who killed the entire Kamado family aside from Nezuko, making him Tanjiro’s mortal enemy as the one demon Tanjiro will never forgive. Tanjiro will be in for the fight of a lifetime when they face off in battle, given Muzan’s ultra-fast regeneration, his fearsome combat form, and much more. He is the endgame boss, Demon Slayer‘s own version of villains like All For One and Madara Uchiha.

3 Tanjiro Kamado Has Finally Mastered Hinokami Kagura

Protagonist Tanjiro Kamado might sometimes benefit from plot armor as an anime hero, but he has also survived some incredibly tough fights on his own merits. Tanjiro trained for two tough years just to qualify as a demon slayer, and since then, he’s pushed himself even harder to power up. By now, Tanjiro is almost Hashira material, able to fight Lower and Upper Moons and win.

Tanjiro started off with the flexibile, graceful power of water breathing, but he can also use Hinokami Kagura, the most powerful fighting style of all. Hinokami Kagura taps into the power of the sun, the ultimate anti-demon energy, and Tanjiro has only gotten stronger with it since his fight with Rui. As a bonus, Tanjiro can use his sharp nose to smell the most vulnerable points of a demon’s fighting style.

2 Muichiro Tokito Awakened His Demon Slayer Mark at Age 14

Muichiro Tokito’s Best Techniques/Abilities/Skills:

• Sixth Form: Lunar Dispesing Mist
• Seventh Form: Obscuring Clouds

Amusingly, Muichiro Tokito is a total himbo, a goofy boy who acts airheaded whenever he’s not fighting or training. He may seem like a strange kid, but when demons attack, Muichiro will get serious with his mist breathing style and prove why he’s a Hashira. Despite his youth at age 14, Muichiro qualified as a Hashira, and didn’t need long to attain that rank.

All on his own, Muichiro slew the Upper Moon 5, the ocean-themed Gyokko, which is an astonishing feat. Muichiro almost drowned in that fight, but then he awakened his demon slayer mark, pushing his already remarkable powers to the next level and turning the tables on a shocked Gyokko. Best of all, Muichiro didn’t suffer any mortal injuries in that fight, so he will be ready for more in future Demon Slayer seasons.

1 Kokushibo Has Six Eyes, One Sword, and No Mercy

Kokushibo’s Best Techniques/Abilities/Skills:

Aside from his lord, Muzan Kibutsuji, Kokushibo is the most powerful demon alive in the Taisho era. Kokushibo didn’t say or do much in the Demon Slayer anime so far, but given his rank as the Upper Moon 1, it’s evident that he’s a devastatingly powerful creature, one who could defeat any Hashira in single combat. Also, unusual among the Moons, Kokushibo carries a sword, as opposed to Doma’s war fans or Daki’s belt weapon.

Kokushibo’s appearance and weaponry suggest a blend of demon slayer techniques and demonic power, which would mean he has combined the best of both worlds. No doubt Kokushibo will be Tanjiro’s most fearsome foe in future seasons. Even other demons like Akaza fear him, all without Kokushibo ever raising his voice or acting in a threatening manner.
