Desert terrain makes obtaining surveillance footage difficult, sheriff says

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told CNN on Thursday that getting surveillance video in the Nancy Guthrie case has been difficult because of the terrain surrounding her home.

Nanos described the area as ‘a very suburban, rural area of the Tucson area, in a very mountainous side of town where vegetation is extremely thick,’ adding it is ‘not very well lit.’

‘We are still canvassing that neighborhood and other neighborhoods and still drawing down from cameras on our streets, at our intersections, with hopes that maybe we’ll find something,’ Nanos said.

Ex-FBI agent explains Savannah Guthrie’s word choice in latest plea video

Retired FBI special agent Jason Pack explained the importance of Savannah Guthrie using the word ‘celebrate’ in her Saturday night plea video with her mother’s captors.

‘The word “celebrate” stood out to me immediately. Savannah didn’t say “surrender her” or “give her back.” She said return her so we can “celebrate,”‘ he told Fox News Digital.

‘That’s the language of resolution, not confrontation. In any negotiation, you want to offer the other party a way to see this ending positively and peacefully for them too. That’s exactly what the family is doing.’

Breaking:Nancy Guthrie’s security camera removed

New images obtained by Fox News Digital appear show that a security camera on the exterior of Nancy Guthrie’s home was removed on Monday as investigators searched the property.

A lack of footage remains a huge problem for investigators, and police have said that Nancy’s doorbell camera was disconnected at 1.47am on February 1.

They said that her home’s surveillance software detected movement at 2.12am, but there is no video of the motion, so it is unclear whether it was a person, an animal or something else.

Tech expert Kurt ‘CyberGuy’ Knutsson told Fox News that investigators are gathering security camera footage near Nancy’s home in case they find ‘unseen data.’

‘Cameras facing the Guthrie house right now show very little activity, but I promise you there’s an enormous amount of activity going on on the digital side,’ Knutsson said.
