Bare Essentials? Detroit Cop Goes Viral After Logging In To Zoom Court With No Pants On (VIDEO) Matthew Jackson

A recent court session in Detroit took a turn that’s now viral! Officer Matthew Jackson made headlines after showing up for a Zoom hearing earlier this week rocking his police shirt — but absolutely no pants. Yes, you read that right. The top-half uniform was on point, but below the waist? Just underwear. And now, clips of the awkward moment are blowing up online, leaving the internet both shook and entertained.

Officer Matthew Jackson Shows Up Pantsless On Zoom

The clip, livestreamed from the 36th District Court with Judge Sean B. Perkins presiding, quickly went viral on Monday. In the video, Jackson raises his right hand for the oath, bare legs fully exposed. Judge Perkins doesn’t skip a beat, asking, “You got some pants on, officer?” Meanwhile, Jackson quickly adjusted his camera to focus on his face and started to say, “Sir, they’re in the…” before pausing and correcting himself with a simple, “No, sir.” The hearing then continues as if nothing happened — and the internet is shook.

Detroit Police Chief Apologizes After Viral Incident

Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison addressed the situation on Wednesday, apologizing for Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction.

“The Detroit Police Department requires its officers to represent themselves in a dignified and professional manner while attending court proceedings. The involved officer’s actions are not representative of the professionalism of this department and will be appropriately addressed to maintain the public confidence and efficient operation of this department,” he shared. Bettison added, “Our apologies are hereby extended to the judges and staff of the court, as well as anyone else who may have been in attendance during this incident.”

Meanwhile, clips of Jackson’s bare-legged appearance have racked up hundreds of thousands of views, proving this Zoom fail isn’t going away anytime soon.

Zoom Court Always Has People Actin’ Up

Virtual courtrooms can get messy, and Asja Outerbridge proved just how quickly. Before her back-and-forth with Judge Perkins, Outerbridge had already shown up 22 minutes late to the 9 a.m. hearing, facing a misdemeanor for allegedly having an open alcohol container as a car passenger, as previously reported. Instead of focusing on the court, she was busy spreading peanut butter for her sick 3-year-old daughter, Parker, prompting the judge to snap, “Put whatever you’re trying to prepare down.” The clip proved that sometimes Zoom court is just straight-up reality TV chaos.
