Elizabeth Warren is Ringing a Huge Alarm for Democrats. Here’s Why…

Left-wing U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren has called for immediate action by her fellow Democrats to help rush through judicial appointments ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s assumption of office. In an op-ed published in Time magazine, the Massachusetts Democrat urged Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to maximize the remaining legislative session before a Republican-majority Congress begins in January. Warren emphasized the need for confirming federal judges and key regulators, who remain unaffected by presidential transitions.

Four federal appeals court nominees and 23 district court nominees are pending confirmation, with over forty openings waiting to be filled. The Senate Judiciary Committee is also considering a nominee for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. This lame-duck session of Congress, concluding on December 20, provides a limited timeframe for these confirmations before the 119th U.S. Congress is seated on January 3.

A notable nominee is Mustafa T. Kasubhai, a United States Magistrate Judge from Oregon, who recently attended a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, sparking debate. Senator John Kennedy questioned Kasubhai about courtroom protocols regarding personal pronouns. Kennedy referenced a directive from Kasubhai that suggested people in his court introduce themselves with their names and pronouns.

Maggie Buchanan of the far-left Demand Justice group also highlighted Warren’s desperation, asserting the importance of confirming left-leaning judges before Trump takes office.

Schumer has initiated procedures for a Senate vote on President Joe Biden’s nominations of Judge Jonathan Hawley and April Perry for federal trial courts in Illinois. Votes are expected next week.
