TikTok influencer Emmie Sperandeo, 27, documents her life working with animals on ranches in Arizona

A TikTok influencer with over 1.5 million followers cannot remember her fame after she was thrown from a horse on the Arizona ranch where she had been working earlier this month.

Emmie Sperandeo, 27, documents her life on social media, showing her move from Florida to Arizona, where she relocated in order to work with animals.

On May 15, Sperandeo was moving cattle at the ranch when the horse she was riding on ‘spun and fell on top of her,’ her sister said on a GoFundMe page that has been set up to help her family to pay for her medical bills.

‘She was holding on to the horse and was whip lashed by the horse as it fell sideways. That caused her head to hit the floor,’ her father, Mariano, told AZ Family.

At the time of the fall she was still recovering from a concussion after being bucked from a horse last month – and had also broken a finger in the incident.

Mariano said due to the most recent accident, his daughter has no memory of her fame and that she can only recall things that happened between seven and 14 years ago. According to the GoFundMe page, Sperandeo fractured her skull in two places and was bleeding from her ears.

‘It hit hard enough that people from 100 yards away could hear the impact of her head on the ground… She’s a tough kid but she’s got a long road ahead of her,’ Mariano told the station.

The GoFundMe page says that Sperandeo had stabilized on May 19, regaining consciousness for periods.

Her sister, Natalie, said on the crowdfunding page that Sperandeo has no memory of the accident, or her career and that she doesn’t know why people are writing to her.

Natalie said that as of Sunday, Sperandeo was still leaking brain fluid and was hooked to an IV and required to stay upright.

She has already begun to receive speech and physical therapy. On May 23, she left the ICU, her family said in a TikTok post. ‘Keep on keepin’ on our sweet cowgirl,’ the post said.

‘Although Emmie is not out of the woods yet, at this time it sounds like her condition is stable enough to move her from the ICU into the neurological ward where she’ll go through both speech and physical therapy,’ her family added.

Mariano told AZ Family that his daughter is no longer on his work-related health insurance due to her age. He said he didn’t know if she had obtained personal insurance. ‘Pretty much all of her income is derived from social media efforts,’ he said.

He explained that Sperandeo is currently documenting her trips between Arizona and Montana as a cattle rancher.

Mariano went on to say that she keeps several animals as pets, including a bison, they’re trying to move them to Florida where Sperandeo is being treated. Her bison will be taken to Montana.

On her official website, Sperandeo said that her love of making videos began when she was 13 and she got her first video camera, that led to her pursuing a college degree in production at the University of Florida. She has been riding horses since the age of four.

‘I now travel full-time in my truck and travel trailer with a dog as my sidekick. I’ve gone coast to coast in the U.S. multiple times. I let my curiosity and wanderlust lead the inspiration behind my work,’ she writes.

In February, Sperandeo spoke about one of her adventures in the African nation of Namibia where she worked on a ranch in 2022 in an interview with Outside Magazine. She explained that she was given the task of training a wild horse.

‘I don’t consider myself a horse trainer, but I’ve trained horses. And I’m always nervous for that first ride, just because you can prepare them as best as you can, but it’s also a really unpredictable situation. It’s frankly dangerous,’ she said.

During one ride, Sperandeo said that she patted the horse, Kibo, on his neck which caused the horse to buck and send her flying, breaking her tailbone.

She said that the day before she flew back home, she made sure she had another ride on Kibo, which went off without a hitch.

‘I got on him again the day before I flew out because I didn’t want my last ride on him to be me getting hurt. It was one of those lessons that taught me that I can do really hard things,’ she said.
