Eskom dives South Africa into stage 2 load shedding, residents stages protest at their headquarters (Video)

South African electricity public utility company Eskom on Wednesday morning announced that they have dived the country back to stage 2 load shedding, with continued national outages expected to continue through Sunday evening.

Eskom said it faced “continued delays in getting production units back to service in the power stations of Kusile, Duvha, Kendal and Koeberg “

“These constraints have been exacerbated by the strong winter demand throughout the day in the past few days, brought on by the colder temperatures,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sowetan residents on Wednesday morning staged a protest outside the power utility headquarters ver the ongoing power outages.

Over the years, Eskom has increasingly used its emergency production reserves in recent days to avoid power cuts during the day. As a result, these resources are now depleted, reducing the available capacity.

The public service reiterated that the load shedding is likely to continue periodically throughout the winter.

Eskom has tweeted that their technicians are still on-site working on repairs and restoration of supply in Benmore and Morningside.

Given the nature of the fault, they are still unable to provide an ETR.
