A former Cardiff Area footballer accused of stabbing a man in the back believed he was not carrying a good knife at the time of the so-called attack, a court possesses heard.

Ibrahim Meite, 30, who also played intended for League Two side Crawley Town and had a trial having 2016 Premier League Champions Leicester City, allegedly stabbed Corriente Amos, 24, in Putney, south London, on the day of September 12, 2019.

The court heard each stepped out of the vehicle just before Meite walked towards Amos and allegedly struck your pet moments later.

Meite instructed the court: ‘I could not have a knife or knife – 100 per cent. I am certain of that.

‘I had our car keys in my hands and I had nothing pointed.’

The judge heard how he was having two knives for safeguard after being told people were in order to get him, but explained he did not know the reason why and denied there ended up a dispute in a club.

He told the court: ‘I heard that there had been people looking for me, since i have heard they were looking for myself that’s the only time I had been carrying a knife with me at night.’

He claimed he plucked one of the knives from the waistband after seeing a cutlery in Meite’s hand following a first strike to the back.

Explaining why this individual chased Meite and stabbed him, he said: ‘He keeps looking back to decide if I’m coming after him. It is my opinion if I turn around then he’ll chase me instead.’

Hughes, who was with Meite when the alleged incident, can be accused of helping typically the footballer carry out an attack.
