Former Liverpool and Newcastle striker Andy Carroll arrived at court in crutches on February 4. But he did not attend a scheduled Chelmsford Crown Court hearing on March 3

Former England and Liverpool striker Andy Carroll will go on trial next year accused of breaching a non-molestation order against his The Only Way Is Essex star ex-wife Billi Mucklow.

The ex-Premier League star, who now plays for National League South club Dagenham and Redbridge, is accused of ‘repeatedly calling’ Ms Mucklow ‘without reasonable excuse’ on March 11, 2025.

Carroll was arrested at Stansted Airport on April 27 last year after allegedly breaching a non-molestation order.

The court injunction, typically put in place to stop a person from contacting another individual, had been put in place by the Family Court at Chelmsford Justice Centre on October 10, 2024.

Carroll was due to enter formal pleas at Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday morning, but neither he nor his defence lawyers appeared for the plea and trial preparation hearing.

In Carroll’s absence, Judge Chris Morgan said: ‘I’m going to fix trial for two days on January 18 next year.’

Commenting on his whereabouts, the judge added: ‘For all we know he could be France or in Dubai, who knows?’

After the judge was informed by prosecutor Leanne Hemming that Carroll’s lawyers believed the hearing was due to take place tomorrow, he told the court: ‘I will adjourn the arraignment of Andrew Carroll to the 4th of March.’

Carroll, who recently had surgery on a fracture and ligaments, last appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on crutches on February 4, where he indicated he would plead not guilty to breaching a non-molestation order against Ms Mucklow.

Carroll split from the reality TV star in July 2024 after a turbulent two-year marriage and they began divorce proceedings last September. They have three children together: sons Arlo and Wolf, and daughter Marve.

Ms Mucklow featured on The Only Way Is Essex from 2011 to 2013, before returning for a brief stint in 2018.

Carroll is currently dating make-up artist Lou Teasdale, 42, after they reportedly met at Glastonbury Festival last June.

The striker, of Epping, Essex, was reportedly pounced on by police shortly after landing in the UK from France at Stansted Airport last April.

A spokesman for Essex Police previously said: ‘A man has been charged with breaching a non-molestation order.

‘Andrew Carroll, 36, of Epping, was arrested on 27 April and the alleged offences relate to an incident in March this year.’

Carroll was questioned by officers and held for a short period, a source told the Sun at the time of his arrest.

‘It seemed as if an issue was flagged up to the Border Force officers at passport control at Stansted, which led to police being called. He was questioned then taken away,’ they said.

‘It caused quite a kerfuffle as there were lots of other passengers around where he was arrested.’

The punishment for breaching a non-molestation order ranges from a fine to up to five years in jail for the most serious cases.
