Carlos — who does not train Kim — reveals that losing 16lbs in 3 weeks is possible with a strategy that includes reducing calorie intake, exercising and meditation.

‘The most important part to this process is diet and nutrition,’ said the celebrity trainer and former boyfriend of pop icon Madonna.

‘Caloric intake versus what you are burning throughout the day and what foods you are eating towards your calories,’ is of utmost importance according to Carlos.

He goes on to say that to lose this amount of weight, ‘your nutritional plan should include a health coach, nutritionist, primary care physician, or a combination of the three.’

Kim followed a strict crash diet to lose the weight, telling Vogue that she did it by completely cutting out all sugar and all carbs and only eating clean vegetables and protein.

According to the trainer, foods to avoid are white and brown sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, processed carbs, coffee, soft drinks, alcohol and dairy products.

Foods that help support a healthy weight loss journey are dairy alternatives, fish and poultry, fruit and vegetables, healthy oils and nuts.

Along with eating well, exercise plays a key role in weight loss, but to lose 16pounds in a short period of time, ‘you must really push yourself, take your workout game to the next level, and don’t look back,’ said the fitness expert.

He warns that workouts should be monitored since ‘your body may experience symptoms of withdrawal from caffeine or sugar.’

Carlos suggests running or walking 6 days a week at a minimum of 45 minutes a day, in addition to other forms of exercise, like Hiit workouts 2-3 days a week.

Hiit (High-intensity interval training) workouts are short bouts of intense anaerobic exercise at maximum effort, followed by brief recovery periods of the same length or longer (10-60 seconds), repeated 3-10 times.

Carlos also suggests yoga/restorative work 1-2 days a week and mindfulness meditation 1-4 days a week.

The hardest part about weight loss is often keeping it off.

If you eliminated the “foods to avoid” and want to reintroduce them back into your diet, Carlos recommends taking notice of how your body feels.

The practice of mindful eating is about paying attention to the overall eating experience, including your thoughts and physical response.

‘It is truly a whole-body experiment,’ reveals Carlos. ‘If the reason to lose the weight was “health” then maintaining is less challenging than if it was just to fit in a dress.

‘When it’s for functionality or health, then the desire or will power is sustainable and has a long term payoff.’

'From the perspective of a health coach, if you have a strong enough reason that is intrinsic - meaning it comes from deep within - then your mindset will shift to achieve that goal,' said Menna Olvera

Menna echoes Carlos’ sentiment saying  ‘From the perspective of a health coach, if you have a strong enough reason that is intrinsic – meaning it comes from deep within – then your mindset will shift to achieve that goal.’

The yoga guru and co-founder of The Oleon House details the five stages of change that occur when you are driven from a deep place to accomplish an objective.

· Precontemplation – Is the stage at which people are in their old patterns and don’t really know a change is needed.

· Contemplation – Awareness begins to build and they recognize that something needs to change.

· Preparation – A person is starting the process of change. For example, they want to lose weight, so they join a gym or hire a trainer.

· Action – The plan is put into action until the change has occurred and the goal is met.

· Maintenance – The personality is now maintained with the new behaviors, and people work to prevent relapse.

Menna stresses the importance of knowing that your reason is sustainable and having an after-plan.

‘I recommend working with a health coach, so you are able to understand what changes you are making and have someone helping you along the way.’

'Remember weight loss, like anything else, is not a single issue, the human makeup is very complex so it¿s important to address the whole person,' shared Menna.

At The Oleon House, Carlos and Menna focus on a mind, body, and spirit approach to fitness and wellness.

Their C + M private sessions include a 30 min fitness session with Carlos to wake up the body followed by 30 min slow flow restorative with Menna leaving you with a sense of balance and clarity.

‘Yoga and meditation are often tools used to manage stress or when a person is ready to explore the flexible part of themselves and not just in a physical manner,’ shared Menna.

‘We often feed the external parts of ourselves because that is what our “ego” prefers.

‘It has control and works in tandem with the patterns or habits of the body. So, tapping into a mindful set of practices while you are working towards a weight loss goal will bring a sense of unity in all aspects of a person’s life.
