  • A man and a woman have been stabbed in the centre of Melbourne on Thursday

A man and a woman have been stabbed in the heart of Melbourne on Thursday evening.

The harrowing 5pm attack saw a woman stab a man on Flinders street in Melbourne’s CBD, according to police.

The same woman then stabbed another woman further down the same street, before police pounced on the suspect and arrest her not far from the victims.

Both the stabbed man and woman have been rushed to hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The man was stabbed at the intersection of Downie street and the main road Flinders street, before the alleged assailant sunk the weapon into another woman just 50 metres down the road on the corner of Spencer street.

Police established a crime scene in the area and diverted traffic.

“Southbound lanes closed between Collins Street and Flinders Street, due to a police incident. Please consider using King Street instead and follow the direction of emergency services,” Victoria Traffic tweeted.

Police have not yet identified the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and are continuing to investigate.
