FREEHOLD – A Manalapan man has been charged in Monday’s fatal shooting on Lloyd Street that killed 18-year-old Reashaun Billingsley Jr.

Lamin Conteh, 23, was taken into custody on charges of first-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, announced Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey late Tuesday night.

Conteh was apprehended at about 2:10 p.m. Tuesday in Manalapan. He is incarcerated pending a detention hearing to be held at a future date in state Superior Court. If convicted, he faces a life sentence in state prison, according to the statement.

About 5 p.m. Monday, the Freehold Police Department received a 911 call of a shooting outside a Lloyd Street residence. The responding officers found Billingsley, as well as a second male victim inside the home. Billingsley was unconscious and had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He received emergency medical treatment and was taken to CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township, where he was pronounced dead at 6:04 p.m., according to a statement from the Prosecutor’s Office.

The second victim, who was not identified Tuesday, suffered a small graze wound to his leg, the statement said.

The Prosecutor’s Office and Freehold Police determined that Billingsley and the second victim were sitting on the front porch outside the Lloyd Street residence when a sedan approached them. At that time, the rear seat passenger, later identified as Conteh, started shooting at the two men, causing them to flee into the home after Billingsley received what were fatal wounds to his body, the Prosecutor’s Office said.
