The beloved anime series Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood will be leaving Netflix in January 2022. We can’t believe we won’t have the luxury to watch these two television series on the streamer soon.

So, where will we be able to watch these popular anime series after they make their exit from Netflix? We’ve got you covered!

Fullmetal Alchemist is an anime adaptation of the manga series titled the same name by Hiromu Arakawa. Shō Aikawa wrote the script with Seiji Mizushima as director. It was broadcast in Japan from 2003 to 2004 on the TV channel MBS and had a total of 51 episodes.

The anime is loosely based on the manga, with some parts of the series different from the manga. This was purposely done since Arakawa requested that the anime’s ending be different from the manga’s ending. By changing the show’s ending, it made the anime deviate more from the original story.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is the second anime adaptation of the manga series. However, this anime completely follows the manga. It was broadcast in Japan from 2009-2010 and had a total of 64 episodes. The TV show was written by Hiroshi Ōnogi and directed by Yasuhiro Irie.

Although Fullmetal Alchemist moved away from the original story halfway through its run, both anime series still shared the same overall plot. Both shows were about two alchemist brothers, Edward and Alphonse, who go on a journey to find the philosopher’s stone so that they can restore their bodies after a failed attempt at resurrecting their dead mother.

While both anime are pretty popular, most people would say Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is one of the best anime series ever! We recommend you watch these two anime series if you haven’t already. The hype around these shows is justified!

Now, without further ado, here’s when both Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood will be leaving Netflix.

When is Fullmetal Alchemist leaving Netflix?

Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood will be parting ways with Netflix on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022. This means the last day for you to watch both anime series is Dec. 31, 2021. You have plenty of time to get your binge session on.

However, if you’re unable to watch both series by Jan. 1, I say watch Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. This anime adaptation isn’t regarded as the best anime of all time for no reason.

Why is Fullmetal Alchemist leaving Netflix?

We’re unsure on why both anime adaptations are leaving Netflix. However, our best guess is that Netflix’s licensing deal is up. I mean, both series have been on Netflix since August 2018. So they’ve been on the streamer for a good period of time.

Where to watch Fullmetal Alchemist

All episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood are available to stream on Crunchyroll for free with ads. You can also watch the anime on Hulu or HBO Max with a subscription. Unfortunately, it’s unclear where you can stream Fullmetal Alchemist after it leaves Netflix.

While you still can, make sure to watch both Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood on Netflix.
