Taking the stage, Barrett gave an emotional speech.

‘I’m gonna try to keep together, as best I can,’ she told the audience. ‘This is a really big deal.’

The recording artist added: ‘This means so much to me… we’ve worked so hard to get here.’

She also thanked her fans, saying: ‘You make dreams come true, this has changed my life forever. Thank you, thank you, thank you!’

Barrett recently announced that she will be hitting the road as a special guest on the Thomas Rhett tour beginning in August.

Ahead of the awards show, Barrett told Entertainment Tonight that she hadn’t expected to get nominated for a BBMA.

‘I had no idea this was going to happen,’ she said. ‘It has been a crazy roller coaster the past three years.’

‘I’m very blessed,’ she added.
