Footage has been released in the Epstein files, revealing disgraced madame Ghislaine Maxwell’s life inside her prison cell.
The socialite, 64, was a close associate of the late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who died in jail in 2019.
His death was ruled a suicide but many, including his brother Mark, believe he was murdered – before he could be prosecuted on multiple child sex charges.
Last Friday, the US Department of Justice released three million documents relating to the convicted sex offender, sending shockwaves across the world.
Maxwell was convicted in 2021 of conspiracy to transport minors to participate in illegal sex acts, conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, transporting a minor to participate in illegal sex acts, sex trafficking conspiracy, and sex trafficking of a minor.
She is serving a 20-year jail sentence. And now, newly released footage verified by Channel 4 News shows a snippet of 10 hours of surveillance footage of Maxwell inside her concrete cell in July of 2020.
At the time, Maxwell had been tracked down by the FBI to her $1 million home in New Hampshire, where she was arrested and brought to the notorious Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. She was detained on July 2, 2020.
The video shows Maxwell sporting an all-orange jumpsuit surrounded by white walls and a weathered grey floor.

Maxwell could be seen cleaning up her bed and unwinding with a book as she was waiting to find out if she would be approved for bail. She would be denied twice

She grabbed a sip, then tidied up her bed before lying back, yawning, and resting with a book.
A small crate sat beside her on the floor with some items that appeared to be another pair of clothes.
She was awaiting a decision on bail at the time of the video.
On July 14, she pleaded not guilty to all charges and was denied bail. At the time, she was facing up to 35 years in prison.
Months later, on December 28, a judge turned down a $28.5million bail package because she posed a flight risk.
Her package proposed that she return home with armed guards who would prevent her from escaping.
At the time, her lawyers said guards were conducting invasive searches of her cell every 15 minutes to make sure she was still alive.

Maxwell was found guilty and is serving a 20 year sentence. She is expected to sit for a congressional deposition on February 9
In August of 2025, she was moved again to a ‘cushy’ low-security Bryan prison camp 100 miles outside Houston, Texas, amid fears she would be killed.
The move – which has been condemned by Maxwell’s victims – came after the disgraced socialite spent two days speaking to Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche about more than 100 men connected to Epstein, including Prince Andrew.
She is expected to sit for a congressional deposition on February 9.
Republican House Oversight Chairman James Comer announced on January 21 at a hearing.
The hearing focused on resolutions to hold former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in contempt of Congress for failing to comply with subpoenas about their relationship with Epstein.
Republicans insisted the Clintons must testify, while Democrats called the focus politically motivated.
But Comer said he wanted information from any relevant source.
‘I agree that we need to hear from Ghislaine Maxwell,’ Comer said. He admitted his staff has been trying to get her in for a deposition. Our lawyers have been saying that she’s going to plead the fifth, but we have nailed down a date, February 9, where Ghislaine Maxwell will be deposed by this committee.’
However, Maxwell’s lawyers have ‘made it clear that she’s going to plead the fifth.’
‘I hope she changes her mind, because I want to hear from her,’ Comer added.
The prison cell footage of Maxwell is part of the latest tranche of Epstein files released by the US Government.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was mentioned repeatedly in the files, as was Bill Gates, who was accused of contracting STDs from ‘Russian girls’.
The billionaire Microsoft founder was also accused of being ‘so cheap’ he allegedly left his Russian ex-mistress ‘broke’ and sleeping on a friend’s couch, according to emails in the files.
Jeffrey Epstein accused Bill Gates of being ‘so cheap’ that he left a Russian ex-mistress ‘ Mila Antonova (right) broke’ and with only a friend’s couch to sleep on, emails appear to show
Jeffrey Epstein ordered the burial of two ‘foreign girls’ near his ranch after they were strangled to death during ‘rough, fetish sex’, a person claiming to be a former worker alleged in an email released in the files
The accusation was revealed in a message Epstein wrote to Gates adviser Boris Nikolic in 2017 and appeared to refer to bridge player Mila Antonova.
‘She said she had little money, couldn’t afford [an] air conditioner, was living on a friend’s couch. Really needed money,’ Epstein claimed.
The paedophile added that he ‘sent her some’ money.
Epstein said that she ‘had emailed me a couple of time [sic] over the past two months.’
The files also revealed that Epstein was eyeing up a five-star hotel near Buckingham Palace and planned to turn it into his ‘London playroom’ – allegedly with the help of one of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s associates.
The financier took a keen interest in purchasing Dukes hotel, which is located just a 10-minute walk from the palace.
David Stern, a businessman who later became a director of the former Duke of York’s Pitch@Palace initiative, encourage Epstein to buy it.
An unnamed source also suggested the sex offender could use the first floor of the building to have ‘lots of P’ – a phrase that has regularly appeared in Epstein’s emails and is believed to reference having sex with women.
Another email released in the files claims that Epstein ordered the burial of two ‘foreign girls’ near his ranch after they were strangled to death during ‘rough, fetish sex’.
The email, sent by a person claiming to have worked for Epstein, also includes links purporting to show the late paedophile engaging in sex with underage girls.
The correspondence, first sent to a man named Eddy Aragon on November 21, 2019, before being forwarded onto the FBI , was released as part of three million documents from the Epstein files published by the US Department of Justice on Friday.
In the email, titled ‘Confidential: Jeffrey Epstein’, the person, whose name has been redacted, claimed to have ‘been there and seen it all, as a former staff at the Zorro.’
The person who sent the email claimed to have been employed at Zorro Ranch (pictured), Epstein’s sprawling estate
They alleged the girls were buried on the orders of Epstein and ‘Madam G’, believed to be Ghislaine Maxwell, at Zorro Ranch, the sex offender’s sprawling New Mexico property which has long been reported to have served as one of his private playgrounds for sexual abuse and trafficking.
In the email, they wrote: ‘Edward. This is sensitive, so it will be the first and last email depending on your discretion.
‘You can choose to take it or trash it but this comes from a person that has been there and seen it all, as a former staff at the Zorro.
‘The material below was taken from Jeffrey Epstein home as my insurance in case of future litigation against Epstein. SORRY NO QUESTIONS.
They added: ‘What is damning about Jeffrey Epstein is yet to be written. Did you know somewhere in the hills outside the Zorro, two foreign girls were buried on orders of Jeffrey and Madam G? Both died by strangulation during rough, fetish sex.’
The sender also included links to videos which claimed to show Epstein having sex with minors, threesomes and sex with underage girls.
They then demanded a payment of one Bitcoin in return for the video and information.
The email was forwarded onto the FBI just three months after Epstein died while being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City.
Meanwhile, his long-time associate Mountbatten-Windsor was on a 2025 FBI shortlist of 11 ‘prominent names’ accused of sexual abuse during their investigation into Epstein.
The former Duke of York was on a PowerPoint presentation drawn up by agents from the Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force just after July 25 last year.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was on a 2025 FBI shortlist of 11 ‘prominent names’ accused of sexual abuse during their investigation into Epstein
It details allegations Andrew had orgies on Epstein’s Lolita Express private jet and suggests he was given sexual favours to keep him ‘happy’ at the behest of Ghislaine Maxwell.
One witness also claimed Andrew was dirty dancing with a ‘young girl’ on Epstein’s ‘paedo island’ in the Caribbean, according to the Justice Department document.
Andrew is listed in the ‘prominent names’ document alongside Donald Trump, Harvey Weinstein, Bill Clinton, former Barclays boss Jes Staley and Victoria’s Secret founder and retail billionaire Les Wexner.
Alan Dershowitz, Leon Black, William Barr and billionaire trader Glenn Dubin are also on the FBI’s ‘prominent names’ slide.
The men have forcefully denied allegations of any wrongdoing and having knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities. Many have played down how well they knew him, if at all.
