Veteran musician and President of the Ghana Music Proper Group (GHAMRO), Rex Omar has spoken out about how he views accolades and the way he reacts to accumulating them.

Giving medals to artists, he claims, isn’t an award; as a substitute, he views his songs’ influence on others and folks paying for his model to be accolades in and of themselves.
He made his submission in an interview with Kwabena Boafo on Glad 98.9FM’s Obra Yi,
He mentioned, “I imagine an award is any Ghanaian taking out time to take heed to my songs and taking out cash to purchase or help any music I produce. That’s what I classify as an award.”
He said that these are extra significant to him and that he values them greater than any prize.

“Any Ghanaian taking out of their hard-earned cash to purchase a ticket to attend my live performance is what I classify as an award. So, for those who ask me the variety of awards I’ve obtained, I’ll inform you I’ve obtained numerous them. Fortuitously for me, I get lots of people patronising the music I do, he mentioned.
Rex Omar additional added that he doesn’t take people who help him and his music as a right due to this.
He added: “So each time I come into contact with such individuals who inform me how my songs impacted them, I get humbled as a result of it makes me really feel good and exhibits me, I’m doing an awesome job and pushes me to do extra. These are what I think about awards to be not the plaques,”
