Glastonbury fans were left raging on Saturday night after the BBC's live coverage of the iconic festival crashed mid-broadcast, leaving viewers staring at a blank screen instead of their favourite acts

This year’s Glastonbury festival has taken over the BBC, with the broadcaster promising hours of coverage of the world renowned festival.

Yet some fans were left raging on Saturday night after the BBC’s live coverage of the iconic festival crashed mid-broadcast, leaving viewers staring at a blank screen instead of their favourite acts.

As the second night of action took place at Worthy Farm, music lovers hoping to catch Scissor Sisters and Charli XCX from the comfort of their sofas, were left disappointed when both the BBC TV feed and iPlayer suffered a major technical fail.

During a highly anticipated set on The Other Stage, viewers tuning in via BBC, were met with a blank screen.

And those trying to watch live performances online on iPlayer’s main Glastonbury stream, were met with an error message that read: ‘Sorry for the interruption. We’re working to fix this.’

Many took to social media to vent their frustration online, demanding answers and better coverage.

They wrote: ‘Terrible coverage on bbc – Scissor Sisters live set off air & general lack of live streams. The iPlayer Glastonbury Channel is also broken on Apple TV. It’s a mess.’

‘bbc iplayer crashing as soon as scissor sisters are meant to be on stage is abysmal work’

‘Waited all day for scissor sisters to be on and now iplayer showing a black screen ffs #Glastonbury2025’

‘First they don’t let us see the Kaiser Chiefs now the iPlayer seemingly crashes when Scissor Sisters are meant to be on. S***e. #BBC #Glastonbury2025’

‘bbc @iplayer no scissor sisters, 35 mins in still getting this.. very disappointing.’

‘C’mon iPlayer, f*****g sort yourself out. Waiting for Scissor Sisters here.’

‘#Glastonbury2025 #Scissorsister what a joke! been waiting to watch the only band worth looking at today and I’m getting this s**t show’

‘bbc iplayer again i just want to watch charli xcx at glastonbury – even better this time we have a totally blank screen i could be spending my £174.50 a year tv license on 581* freddos’

‘IPLAYER HURRY AND FIX THIS I WANNA SEE CHARLI’

‘BBC iplayer had one job and they can’t even get their stream working for the headliner ffs, FUMING. An absolute joke honestly’

‘the live coverage has been awful’

To catch any remaining action from The Other Stage, desperate viewers had to scramble to the dedicated feed, which remained – mercifully – untouched by the glitch.

It comes as Charli XCX put on a very racy display as she graced the Other stage as the headline act on Saturday evening.

The singer, 32, showed off her toned figure in tiny black leather hot pants and a mesh skull crop top.

Charli accessorised with a floaty Alexander McQueen scarf, and hid her eyes behind oversized dark sunglasses.

The crowd went wild as she performed hits including Party 4 U, Speed Drive, Sympathy Is a Knife, and 360.

She later performed her song Apple, and the person doing the famous viral dance was Gracie Abrams, daughter of Star Wars director JJ Abrams.

Earlier in the day, Pulp had thrown shade at Charli during their surprise performance.

The Britpop icons were concealed as mystery band Patchwork – later revealing themselves on the famous Pyramid Stage after 30 years.

The band took a swipe at Charli XCX – who was headlining the Other Stage on Saturday night – by declaring 2025 a ‘Pulp Summer’.

Before their performance, a screen flashed with ‘Are you ready for…. Pulp Summer.’

It seems the band had a direct message for Charli’s fanbase – who declared a ‘Brat Summer’ last year, thanks to her smash-hit album.

After the words flashed on screen, band leader Jarvis Cocker jokingly quipped: ‘We’re Pulp. Sorry for the people that were expecting Patchwork.’

He added: ‘Did you know we were going to play? How? Psychic? Good.’

Throughout the set, Pulp joked that it had been ’30 Years and Four Days’ since they first took to the stage at Glastonbury 1995.

The band originally split in 2002, with Jarvis saying shortly after that ‘no-one was arsed’ about their music anymore.

They split again in 2013, before reforming in 2022.
