Golden Globes live: Nikki Glaser turns on show's network CBS in shock monologue as Timothee Chalamet and Amy Poehler lead winners

The Golden Globe Awards kick off awards season as A-listers descended on the red carpet for one of the biggest nights in Hollywood.

Comedian Nikki Glaser is hosting the show for a second time at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.

In her opening monologue, she took aim at Trump’s Justice Department, awarding the DoJ ‘best editing’ alluding to the Epstein files redactions.

She also took aim at CBS, awarding the network ‘most editing’ before quipping ‘yes, CBS News, America’s newest place to see BS news.’

Timothee Chalamet accepted an award for best male actor in a musical or comedy motion picture for his role in Marty Supreme while Amy Poehler took home a Golden Globes for the ceremony’s newly-launched this year – Best Podcast.

The category caused controversy after the Golden Globes failed to nominate any conservative podcasters, even though they topped the charts.

Nikki Glaser takes shot at Justice Department and CBS News

Nikki Glaser hit out at the Justice Department, claiming they deserve an award for ‘best editing’ in the wake of the release of the heavily-redacted Epstein files.

She then took aim at CBS News after the network underwent a leadership change.

‘And the award for the most editing goes to CBS News,’ Glaser said. ‘Yes, CBS News, America’s newest place to see BS news.’

She also made a ‘cheap’ joke about Leonardo DiCaprio’s tendency to date younger women.

‘What a career you have had,’ she said to DiCaprio. ‘Countless iconic performances. You’ve worked with every great director, you’ve won three Golden Globes, and an Oscar.

‘The most impressive thing is that you were able to accomplish that all before your girlfriend turned 30. It is just insane.’

Stars skip out on remaining awards

Several celebrities have left the Golden Globes early, as viewers complain this year’s show has been a snooze fest.

Selena Gomez, Benny Blanco, Dax Shepard, Kristen Bell and Keegan-Michael Key have all appeared to leave the ceremony, with several awards still to be handed out.

On social media, users have complained that this year’s ceremony has been boring and uninteresting to watch.

‘I remember when I used to watch the #GoldenGlobes and other award shows. This year, I don’t think I’ve seen a single nominated film,’ one person wrote on X.

‘The clips I’ve seen make me feel even better about that decision. The Golden Globes look cringe and, quite simply, not funny.’

Another wrote, ‘This has been one of the most boring Golden Globes I’ve ever seen, and I have watched them for years.

‘Haven’t heard of any of these one-named films. Haven’t heard of any of these under-30 actors, and they all are as obnoxious as they could possibly be. What a disappointment.’
