Gunmen have killed Malam Kabiru Mohammed, the village head of Marke in Dandamisa Ward, Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The gunmen entered the residence of the victim at about 12:30 am on Thursday, May 2, and sent everyone out of the compound. They then began searching for Malam Kabiru, who was hiding inside the ceiling alongside his elder brother, Tukur Mohammed, DailyTrust reports.
A member of the community told the publication that the victim was later discovered by the gunmen and they slaughtered him.
Afterwards, they set the house ablaze.
Reacting to the incident, the councillor of Dandamisa Ward, Alhaji Aminu Sani Marke, said the body of the late village head could not be recovered as the house was burnt down.
He said, “The gunmen spent about one hour operating in the village and went away with valuables worth millions of naira.”
The late Kabiru Muhammmad, age 30 years, was turbaned as the village head of Marke in 2018.
