MOUNT HOLLY – Hot, muggy and humid weather will be in the forecast for the final days of June, including heat index values reaching as high as 104 degrees for most of the state, according to the National Weather Service.

A heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday, covering nearly the entire state aside from Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem counties, according to the weather service.

As the heat wave continues to bake the state, there is a slight chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening hours between Monday through Wednesday, according to private meteorologist Steven DiMartino, who runs NY NJ PA Weather. Although the thunderstorms will be isolated, they are still capable of intense downpours, frequent lightning, and wind gusts over 40 mph.
