Hellraiser Reboot Producer Reveals 'Even Crazier' Sequel Plans

The Hellraiser reboot film could soon be getting its own sequel.

Released on Hulu in 2022, the new take on Hellraiser introduced Jamie Clayton as Pinhead, the iconic character originally played by Doug Bradley. Directed by David Bruckner, the film was a success, drawing in very high viewership upon its streaming debut. While Hulu has not officially announced a sequel, it’s been teased that one is in the early works by producer Keith Levine in a new interview with ComicBook.com. While no specific details could be divulged, Levine said there have been active talks to make a follow-up film, and the tentative ideas that are in mind will be “even crazier” than the 2022 movie.

Hellraiser Remake Director Set to Reboot Another Beloved Horror Film

After rebooting Hellraiser for Hulu, David Bruckner has been hired by Warner Bros. to reimagine another iconic horror classic.

“Yeah. We are trying to do a follow-up and there have been conversations,” Levine explained. “I can’t exactly say where we’re at in those conversations, but Bruckner is involved in those conversations and we spent a lot of time and energy, I think relaunching that world. A lot of brainpower going into crafting the Cenobite design, figuring out how we’re going to pull them off, and we learned so much.”

He added, “And I think moving forward, we love that all that knowledge is sort of banked and that time has been spent. So we think that moving forward and going into another movie is just going to be even crazier and even more awesome. So yeah, that’s something we’re definitely hard at work on, and hope we will have more news soon.”

Doug Bradley Wants to Return as the Original Pinhead

The new Hellraiser is the eleventh film of the Hellraiser movie series, but it serves as a reboot, as it’s a new adaptation of the original story. Inspired by Clive Barker’s novella The Hellbound Heart, the film follows a recovering addict whose encounter with a mysterious puzzle box unleashes hellish beings known as the “Cenobites.” The new take was given praise by original Pinhead actor Doug Bradley, who recently shared his own desires to reprise the role for a legacy sequel, though he doubted that it would happen.

“That would be the perfect bookend to my life in latex, if I can put it that way,” Bradley told Bloody Disgusting. “I’ve never turned my back completely on the character, but realistically, I think that’s probably that, and that’s fine. I’m proud of what we did with the movies, and I’m proud of my work in it. I’m cool with being where I am now.”
