It’s a love story for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce as the couple, who have been dating for two years, officially shared news of their engagement with the world.
For Swifties, her engagement to the Kansas City Chiefs player, 35, was the perfect storybook ending to her long list of exes – from Joe Jonas to Harry Styles to Joe Alwyn.
Indeed, the singer’s lengthiest relationship was with Alwyn, whom she dated for six years before announcing their breakup in April 2023.
The notoriously private British actor, 34, reportedly struggled with Swift’s level of fame during their relationship, and has since kept a low profile in the wake of their split.
However, an inside source has exclusively revealed to the Daily Mail that Alwyn ‘genuinely hopes’ the best for Swift, 35, following her engagement to Kelce – but she won’t be hearing a ‘congratulations’ from him any time soon.
‘Taylor’s engagement is the final nail in the coffin to any thoughts Joe will ever have about her again,’ the insider said.

The former couple reportedly first crossed paths at the 2016 Met Gala.
After years of her relationships being obsessively scrutinized in the media, Swift and Alwyn went to great lengths to keep their relationship out of the public eye.
It wasn’t until more than a year after their meeting that they were photographed together in 2017 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Despite their private relationship, Swift often gave fans a glimpse into their romance in her lyrics, most notably in her albums Reputation and Lover.
Alwyn was also one of the producers on her hit record Folklore, and helped co-write the tracks ‘Betty’ and ‘Exile’ under the pseudonym of William Bowery.
Swifties had even become convinced they were planning to get married or had already secretly walked down the aisle, especially after they spent the pandemic together.

The singer was forced to shut down those marriage rumors following their split, as her longtime publicist Tree Paine slammed claims they tied the knot in ‘either 2020 or 2021’.
Flash forward six years, the pair shocked fans when they announced their split weeks after Swift embarked on her record-breaking Eras Tour.
At the time, Daily Mail reported that Swift’s unparalleled starpower played a role in the end of her relationship with Alwyn.
A source close to the singer revealed that Swift’s ‘career took priority’ over Alwyn’s, which ‘drove them apart’ and they ultimately realized ‘they were not on the same page anymore.’
The Conversations with Friends actor later reflected on their decision not to share ‘details’ about each other with the public.
‘As everyone knows, we together – both of us, mutually – decided to keep the more private details of our relationship private,’ he told The Sunday Times Style in June 2024.
‘It was never something to commodify and I see no reason to change that now.’

However, their flame burned out quickly as Healy became swept up in controversy over offensive accents and crude jokes he made about rapper Ice Spice on a popular comedy podcast.
By early June, the two were reported to no longer be together.
It wasn’t before long that NFL player Kelce revealed on his podcast New Heights, which he co-hosts with brother Jason Kelce, that he attempted to give a friendship bracelet to the singer while attending her Eras Tour show in Missouri.
It seemed his public declaration had gotten back to Swift, as she made her first appearance at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City in September that year.
She went on to make several appearances at Kelce’s games, and was even on the field to congratulate him after winning the Super Bowl in February 2024.

On Tuesday, the couple announced their engagement in a post shared to their respective Instagram accounts.
‘Your English teacher and gym teacher are getting married,’ Swift captioned the carousel of images from the intimate engagement photoshoot, which took place in a garden at Kelce’s home in Missouri.
In the post, Kelce was seen kneeling down surrounded by flowers as he held Swift in his arms.
The post also gave fans a close-up glimpse at Swift’s vintage-inspired diamond engagement ring, which is estimated to have cost $550,000.
As for Alwyn, the actor has unsurprisingly kept details about his love life private.
He’s been rehearsing with Alicia Vikander and Andrew Lincoln for his stage debut as Heath in The Lady from the Sea, which runs September 10 to November 8 at the Bridge Theatre in London.
He recently starred in the Oscar-nominated film The Brutalist and director Yorgos Lanthimos’s movie Kinds of Kindness.
Alwyn’s upcoming films include Aneil Karia’s modern adaptation of Hamlet, Chloé Zhao’s Agnes Shakespeare biopic Hamnet, and Sam Esmail’s conspiracy thriller Panic Carefully.
The source maintained that both Swift and Alwyn have ‘moved on’ from their relationship.
