Rational people, people who understand propriety, not to mention just ordinary good manners, should expect a certain level of decorum at certain proceedings, from certain people. Granted, in any proceeding, especially in debate, passions can rise. But we should expect some restraint from our elected representatives.
Unless it seems, the representative in question is Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar (MN-05), who has a penchant for acting out. Her latest example of conduct unbecoming came on Wednesday, when Rep. Omar was asked for comment on her sudden and amazing drop in reported net worth, due to an “accounting error” amounting to $30 million. The question came from a Lindell TV reporter, Alison Steinberg.

Ilhan Omar’s New Magic Filing Trick: $30M Disappears Faster Than Her Principles
A New York Post piece, also on Wednesday, has some more detail.
Far-left Rep. Ilhan Omar blew up at a reporter this week for asking questions about accounting “discrepancies” the Democrat blamed for overstating her net worth by millions of dollars on financial disclosure forms.
In May last year, Omar (D-Minn.) claimed she and her husband, Tim Mynett, held assets worth between $6 million and $30 million. However, an amended filing reported by the Wall Street Journal last week put the couple’s wealth at between $18,004 and $95,000.
The lawmaker claimed the initial filing was riddled with accounting errors.
“Congresswoman Omar, the last time I spoke to you, you said I was stupid for asking about your financial disclosure, but there’s some discrepancies on there. Would you like to explain that? How did you make such a big mistake?” a Lindell TV reporter asked Omar on Tuesday.
“I think you’re stupid for asking me anything,” snapped the visibly annoyed Omar, a sarcastic smile plastered on her face.
This response from an elected representative is akin to the one selfish boor who feels the need to scream their heads off at a high school or college graduation, preventing other families from hearing their graduate’s name announced. But this is worse; this is a member of Congress, who we should rightfully expect to show a little more restraint when talking to a member of the media. For that matter, we should expect a little more restraint from anyone over the mental age of 12.
There’s another aspect of this shameful display: Alison Steinberg’s question likely hit a little too close to home. Rep. Omar’s financial issues have come under increasing scrutiny, and plenty of people are finding all the ins and outs of Rep. Omar and her venture capitalist husband to stink like a dead carp in the back seat of a car that’s been parked in the Alabama summer sun for two weeks. She very likely faces some serious inquiry into her actions, and that, now, that should be interesting indeed — and her reaction to those may well make this outburst look mild in comparison.
For many reasons, Ilhan Omar is unfit to serve in the House of Representatives. That becomes more apparent with each passing day.
