Since its founding, presidents, vice presidents, and other senior government officials have relied on the United States Secret Service (USSS) to provide security for them and, if needed, their families. The USSS has, for the most part, done their best, regardless of the personal opinions of agents. That’s how an organization like this should – must – work.
So when an agent betrays that trust, it’s all the more hateful. But that is precisely what James O’Keefe seems to have uncovered, in the form of a USSS agent on the detail of Vice President JD Vance, who has allegedly leaked serious details of Vice President Vance’s travel arrangements, how his detail is constituted, and much, much more.

Tomas Escotto, a current U.S. Secret Service agent on Vice President JD Vance’s protective detail, was recorded on hidden camera providing an undercover journalist with sensitive security information, including protective formations, shift schedules, travel plans, & real-time locations.
That’s hateful enough. Escotto is entitled to his own opinions, but these are, frankly, opinions that would bring his fitness to provide security into question. What’s more, he has allegedly disclosed information that could be used by a hostile party to launch an attack on the Vice President of the United States, or on his family.

The Secret Service agent detailed how the Vice President is physically surrounded, described multiple daily shift changes, & disclosed advance security procedures.
In addition to past movements, the agent revealed future travel plans, sometimes days in advance. Escotto even sent images from Air Force Two while onboard with the Vice President.
Despite acknowledging that he signed paperwork prohibiting the disclosure of sensitive information, the Secret Service agent repeatedly shared details with someone he believed was a casual romantic interest.
A casual romantic interest – as in, a honey trap.

The only good thing to come out of this is that Escotto unwittingly revealed this information to an American journalist, and not a Chinese or Iranian spy. We have ample evidence that the Chinese are more than willing to set up honey traps for unwitting and naive American officials. It’s not impossible, despite that regime’s seeming contempt for women, that Iran would do the same. And imagine what a hostile power could do, with that much of the vice president’s schedule and security arrangements revealed.
An ordinary breach of trust is bad enough. But if these allegations are accurate, this isn’t just an ordinary breach of trust. This is a breach at the highest level, from an agent on whom the highest elected officials in the country rely for their safety and the safety of those around them. These are people who are literally there to take a bullet to save their principal. No, this kind of thing isn’t just a betrayal; it is treachery, and if the allegations are proven – Tomas Escotto is still entitled to a presumption of innocence and to due process, like everyone else – then it should come with harsh consequences.
