Jenna Ortega 's latest red carpet appearance suggests her transformation from sweet-faced child actor to Hollywood siren is complete

Jenna Ortega’s latest red carpet appearance suggests her transformation from sweet-faced child actor to Hollywood siren is complete – as the Wednesday star attended the Emmy Awards in her most risque look to date.

Jenna was among the best dressed stars at last night’s Primetime Emmy Awards held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, with the 22-year-old putting a sizzling spin on the ‘naked dress’ trend with her Givenchy ensemble .

It was a remarkable departure from Jenna’s typical gothic red carpet fashion that pays tribute to her role on the Netflix show – with the actress preferring all-black preppy outfits with a ghoulish edge.

Over the years, she has traded in high collars for plunging necklines as Jenna slips easily into the role of a confident leading leady – but last night’s look was her bravest yet.

Following in the footsteps of Jennifer Lopez, Marilyn Monroe, Kate Moss, and Cher, Jenna wore a barely-there shirt made entirely from jewels as it was draped strategically across her torso.

The look was designed by Givenchy creative director Sarah Burton and included a low-waist black skirt with a dangerously high slit that showed off Jenna’s toned legs.

The dress was seemingly a tribute to Isabella Rossellini’s temptress character in the 1992 film Death Becomes Her as Jenna – who usually channels her goth alter-ego Wednesday Addams on the red carpet – made her boldest style statement yet.

Style journalist Zanna Roberts told People Jenna’s ‘naked dress’ was delivered in a coffin-like box, as she predicted ‘this is going to be filling your feed’.

Unsurprisingly, the ‘insane’ Givenchy creation caused a stir online as fans dubbed the American actress a ‘style icon’ in messages on X/Twitter.

‘Jenna Ortega has the best look of the night,’ one person wrote.

Another added that she was wearing ‘jewels fit for a goth queen’ while a third said ‘She’s having an amazing run’ in connection with her most recent press tour for the second season of Wednesday.

One comment read: ‘This top is a SERVE and her face card NEVER declines. Get it mama!!! Already my #BestDressed.’

‘Jenna Ortega, the woman that you are,’ another fan gushed.

For her latest head-turning outfit, Jenna looked to Isabella’s character, socialite Lisla von Rhuman in Death Becomes Her for inspiration.

The 1992 camp classic starred Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn as two women whose desperation to look young becomes increasingly unhinged and macabre.

Lisle was a scene-stealing presence in the film, going topless over a wine-colored sarong and covering her bust only with a lavish tangle of beaded necklaces.

Jenna’s version also left little to imagination as the GenZ ‘scream queen’ swapped method dressing for unfettered glamour on this occasion.

While going sheer is on brand for Jenna, she upped the ante at the Emmy Awards with the custom-designed broken chandelier top from Sarah’s debut collection for the French luxury house.

It was certainly a far cry from the more conservative, all-black outfits Jenna modelled while promoting the first season of Wednesday, the Addams Family spinoff created by Tim Burton, that propelled her into the limelight.

As the California native’s star began to rise, Jenna started experimenting with her wardrobe while working with some of the biggest designers and couture brands in the world – from Balmain and Gucci to Alexander McQueen and Dolce&Gabbana.

With a flair for method dressing, Jenna’s most recent press tour for the second season of Wednesday led British Vogue to anoint her a ‘style icon in the making’ as the magazine traced her ‘newsworthy style evolution’.

Some of the highlights included the semi-transparent, corseted Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood gown that Jenna modelled at the Paris photo call for Wednesday last month.

She wore a figure-hugging snakeskin dress from Ashi Studio’s autumn/winter collection for the show’s London premiere – right after Jenna flaunted John Galliano’s iconic newspaper-print dress made famous by Sarah Jessica Parker.

Sarah, who wore the Dior creation in season three of Sex and the City, said the low-cut dress had found its new ‘rightful owner’ in Jenna while reacting to the buzzy red carpet moment in a subsequent interview.

Last night’s show-stopping ‘naked dress’ will, however, go down as one of Jenna’s most famous looks – as she broke new ground in dangerous sartorial territory.

While Jenna was not nominated for an Emmy, she did appear on-stage as a presenter, balancing on a towering set of platform heels to enhance her 5’12 stature.

She was accompanied by her Wednesday co-star Catherine Zeta-Jones as the duo announced the winner of the ‘Best Supporting Actress’ category before handing the trophy to Katherine LaNasa for The Pitt.
