Johnny Depp has denied mistreating a co-star from the 2001 movie Blow, and a crewmember is corroborating his version of events.
Per Variety, Blow actor Lola Glaudini accused Johnny Depp of berating her one day on the set of the film. The allegation was made on the Powerful Truth Angels podcast earlier in the year, though it has now been making the rounds in the press, resulting in Depp offering an official statement in response.

RUMOR: Disney Wants to Bring Back Johnny Depp for Pirates 6 — But With a Catch
New rumors have emerged about Johnny Depp’s return to Pirates of the Caribbean.
Blow was directed by Ted Demme, and Johnny Depp starred alongside Penelope Cruz and the late Paul Reubens. The film is inspired by the true story of infamous cocaine smuggler George Jung, who was played by Depp. Lola Glaudini was featured in a minor role, and the alleged incident happened after a scene where she was in the background while Depp was acting. She said she was told by Demme to have her character “burst out laughing” after Depp’s George Jung finished with a monologue. Glaudini claimed that after doing this for a few takes, Depp suddenly began to insult and berate her, using profanities to demand she stay quiet from then on.
“[Depp] says his monologue. I hear the cue, and I go haha, I do a big laugh or whatever,” Glaudini said. “Johnny Depp, when they say cut, walks over to me, comes up to me, sticks his finger in my face and he goes, ‘Who the f*** do you think you are? Who the f*** do you think you are? Shut the f*** up. I’m out here, and I’m trying to f***ing say my lines and you’re f***ing pulling focus. You f***ing idiot. Oh, now, oh now it’s not so funny? Now you can shut up? Now you can f***ing shut the f*** up? The quiet that you are right now, that’s how you f***ing stay.’”
She added, “First day, on the set, I’ve never met him. This was my first studio movie, I’ve just done indies until then. And I have the star who I have idolized, who I am so excited to work with, reamed me in my face. The only thing going through my head was, ‘Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry.’”

Where To Find Johnny Depp’s Cameo in the 21 Jump Street Movie
21 Jump Street is an action comedy known for featuring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum’s hilarious buddy chemistry, but it also has surprising cameos.
Glaudini went on to describe Depp allegedly giving her a “non-apology apology” on the set later that day, claiming that he was in character at that moment. She said that, at this point, she’d spoken with her father about the incident, and he told her she had two options, which were, “You can either say f*** this, f*** you, and I’m not going to be spoken to like that, or you never let him see you sweat.” Glaudini said she chose to hold it in and act like everything was fine when Depp approached her, choosing the latter suggestion.
“[Depp] said, ‘You know, so earlier I was really in my head and staying in my character, I’m doing this Boston accent, and it’s really f***ing with me. So I’m a little tense and stuff. So I just wanted to make sure we’re cool and everything?’” she said. “I just looked at him, and I was like, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about? Of course, what are you talking about? Totally cool.’ Because I was like… my dad said, ‘Don’t let them see you sweat.’ So that was that.”
According to Glaudini, nobody offered her support after the alleged berating, including Demme. She said she felt like a “pariah” after the movie wrapped, with nobody wanting to speak with her, suggesting that this was because she was seen as “the bitch who he railed at.”
Johnny Depp and a Blow Crewmember Cast Doubt on the Claims
Through his rep, Depp has responded to the alleged incident with a statement. It noted that Depp “prioritizes good working relationships” with his co-workers on movie sets. Blow sound technician Samuel Sarkar, who’s also worked with Depp on other films like Chocolat and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, also submitted a statement claiming he never saw or heard anything like what was described in Glaudini’s story.
“Johnny always prioritizes good working relationships with cast and crew and this recounting differs greatly from the recollection of other members on set at the time,” Depp’s statement reads.
Sarkar’s statement added, “As a sound person, you’re constantly listening to what is going on on set, listening for noises, listening for chatter. In fact, specifically, I would listen to Johnny’s audio to check for interference, both during rehearsals and during the take. I never heard anything like that – and that would have been a remarkable event.”
This follows 2022’s high-profile defamation trial between Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard. After Heard alleged that she’d been abused by Depp, she was sued for defamation. A jury ultimately ruled heavily in Depp’s favor, agreeing with the actor’s assertion that Heard fabricated the allegations. He has since returned to acting, with his new movie, Jeanne du Barry, set to hit U.S. theaters on May 2.
