Jon Cryer isn’t thrilled about the idea of reviving the TV seriesTwo and a Half Men with Charlie Sheen.
For the first eight seasons of the hit comedy series, Two and a Half Men starred Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer co-starred as brothers Charlie and Alan Harper. Infamously, Sheen’s run on the show came to an end after a public feud with the series creator, Chuck Lorre, with Ashton Kutcher taking over as co-star alongside Cryer. Sheen and Lorre have since patched up their differences, theoretically opening the door for a Two and a Half Men revival. However, during a recent appearance on The View, Cryer admitted that he’d be apprehensive about reuniting with Sheen for a new series, given what happened with the previous Two and a Half Men controversy.
Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor Casting Praised by Supergirl’s Jon Cryer
Jon Cryer, who was praised for his Lex Luthor performance on Supergirl, has shared his thoughts on Nicholas Hoult taking on the role.
“Yeah, I don’t know how [a Two and a Half Men revival] happens,” Cryer said. “The thing is, Charlie is doing a lot better now, which is wonderful. He and I have not spoken in a few years, but he’s doing a lot better, which, obviously, I am very happy about. Chuck Lorre, who produced Two and a Half Men…one of the hardest things for him when Two and a Half Men fell apart the way that it did is he really thought he was friends with Charlie, and that he lost that was really heartbreaking for him. So, that they have reconciled is really lovely.”
Cryer continued, “The thing for me is, when Two and a Half Men was happening, Charlie was like the highest paid actor in television. Probably ever. There has been nobody that has surpassed the enormous amount of money he was making. And yet, he blew it up. So, you kind of have to think. I love him, I wish him the best, and that he should live in good health for the rest of his life, but I don’t know if I want to get in business with him for any length of time.If it was a one-off…”
Two and a Half Men: Why Charlie Sheen Left After Season 8
Charlie Sheen’s exit from Two and a Half Men was one of the most controversial in television history.
Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre Have Made Up
More recently, Chuck Lorre co-created the Max series Bookie. The show’s first season features Charlie Sheen playing himself, and the casting came after Lorre and the actor patched things up. The series was renewed for a second season, so there may be more to come from Sheen and Lorre even without a Two and a Half Men revival. Meanwhile, Cryer is back in a main role in a sitcom as one of the stars of the new NBC comedy series Extended Family alongside Abigail Spencer and Donald Faison.
Two and a Half Men is streaming on Peacock.
