It probably would have helped Kamala Harris during her presidential campaign if she had chosen Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro as her running mate. At least it might have helped in that all-important state. I think she still would have lost, though.
Instead, she picked Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who was a complete mess or, in his own words, a “knucklehead.” Walz is beset by a fraud scandal and anti-ICE chaos that he helped to create. He’s now under investigation by the DOJ over that incitement.

There were already questions about whether Shapiro wasn’t picked because he was Jewish and supported Israel, and that his pick might offend the far-left base because of their pro-Palestinian stance. Now Shapiro is dropping more information about that vetting in his new book, and it’s pretty disturbing. Unbelievably, they asked him if he had ever been a “double agent for Israel”:
“Had I been a double agent for Israel?” wrote Mr. Shapiro, describing his incredulous response to a last-minute question from the vetting team. He responded that the question was offensive, he wrote, and was told, “Well, we have to ask.”
“Have you ever communicated with an undercover agent of Israel?” the questioner, Dana Remus, a former White House counsel, continued, according to Mr. Shapiro, who recounted, “If they were undercover, I responded, how the hell would I know?”
He said Harris herself asked him if he would “be willing to apologize” for statements criticizing antisemitic demonstrations on college campuses. He said he responded that he defended the right to protest, but some of these actions weren’t peaceful.
Harris has indicated in her account of the vetting that Shapiro wanted to be in the room on all the decisions and seemed interested in the perks of the job. “Her accounts are just blatant lies,” Mr. Shapiro told The Atlantic last year. Don’t hold back, Josh.

Shapiro also revealed Harris didn’t seem to like the office she was occupying.
“She noted that her chief of staff would be giving me my directions, lamented that the Vice President didn’t have a private bathroom in their office and how difficult it was for her at times not to have a voice in decision making,” he wrote.
Remus also appeared to discourage him.
“She said that she knew we didn’t have a lot of money, and that [Shapiro’s wife] Lori was going to have to get all new clothes and pay for people to do her hair and makeup,” he wrote, saying that while he held no grudge against Ms. Remus, the comments left him “a little slack-jawed.”
No wonder he didn’t want the job. These are the folks who claim that they are the party of tolerance? Did they ask Tim Walz about his connections to China?
This indicates how completely in control of their radical left wing they are, if they go over the edge like this.
But then, too, Shapiro still endorsed her, even after this question.
All of which goes to show how lost they are as a party, and how fortunate we are that they lost.
