Hero bouncers praised for detaining a brute found raping a teenager on a beach until police arrived worked at a nearby ‘VIP superclub’.
Hove Crown Court heard how plumber Abdenour Ben Ali, 30, had met the 18-year-old girl on a Friday night in a club near Brighton beach.
He encouraged the girl – said to be ‘vulnerable’ – to accompany him to the beach where he attacked her.
Police were called to King Road Arches near the Palace Pier at 4.30am on Saturday, September 7, 2019, the court heard.
Ben Ali, of Harrow, had been restrained by door staff from a nearby nightclub, who intervened after seeing him assaulting the girl on the beach.
The doormen were from only a stone’s throw away from the Shooshh venue, which says it hosts glitzy VIP Lounge Areas.
Ben Hali has now been jailed for nine years after the court convicted him of raping the girl.
He will also be a registered sex offender indefinitely.

The victim was taken to hospital and was supported by specialist officers, said Detective Constable Tom Perry of the Brighton and Hove Safeguarding Investigations Unit.
‘The four door staff, who were commended in court at the end of the trial by Judge Janet Waddicor, spotted what was happening, restrained Ben Ali and called police.
‘Ben Ali had met the woman in the club shortly beforehand and after some conversation she had gone with him to the adjacent beach area where he assaulted her.
‘Fortunately, alert door staff took action and now Ben Ali, who had taken advantage of her vulnerability, has faced justice.’

On social media, Cogent Stream said ‘Well done to the heavies for catching this brute.
‘A lot of people think nightclub bouncers are just legalised thugs but in fact they all have to be trained in dealing with conflict situations and methods of physical restraint and they all need to be certified in order to do the job.
‘It’s interesting that some of the predator hunting groups insist on bouncer training qualifications to come on to their teams as security on stings.’
Mod n Rocker said ‘Absolutely right. Clubs and bouncers get a bad press, but when they stop things like this then deserve all the praise going. Well done folks.’
