Has Kamala Harris been hitting the bottle again? It’s a legitimate question after she exploded into a profanity-filled tirade against President Donald Trump on Thursday. For a woman who already has questions surrounding her about her sobriety, this probably wasn’t the best look. It’s also one of several recent interviews she’s done where she thoroughly embarrassed herself.

Of course, the topic was the government shutdown, which Harris shamelessly demagogued, ignoring who is refusing to vote for a clean continuing resolution that would do exactly what she’s demanding here.

So what, I’m not going to be distracted by, ‘Oh, does the guy have a big ****ing hammer!?’ What about those babies!?
This is such disgusting nonsense, and every time I hear Harris speak, I’m deeply grateful that Americans had enough sense to send her packing in the 2024 election. For one, the idea that people are going to suddenly starve to death if SNAP benefits are disrupted for a few days or even weeks is ludicrous. The amount of waste and abuse in that program is ridiculous, and Americans are exceedingly generous toward those truly in need. You could end SNAP tomorrow, and I’d bet my house that no one would starve as a result.
But that’s beside the point here. If Harris truly thinks SNAP is that important and that babies are literally going to die as a result, then she’s welcome to tell her joke of a party to just…reopen the government. Republicans have now tried 13 separate times to pass a clean CR. Every single time, Democrats have lined up to filibuster it, preventing the funding of these programs they claim are so important. That is the only reason SNAP benefits are now in jeopardy, and this idea that the Trump administration should take the legally specious action of using emergency funds is such a transparent attempt at a double standard.
Keep in mind, these same Democrats refused to pass a bill that would have paid military members, but now they want to piecemeal the shutdown when it suits them, all while having refused to negotiate over past shutdowns, claiming that clean CRs were the only path forward. The hypocrisy here is stunning, if not wholly unsurprising.
Republicans can not give in to this nonsense. To do so would set up a double standard that would haunt the country for years to come. If Democrats walk away victorious in this shutdown fight, they’ll forever hold the power to dictate policy while in the minority. Elections should have consequences. They lost, and that means they don’t get to make the rules. Let Harris and company pound sand. They look like imbeciles anyway.
