Emily Cropper, sister to Kate Mulachy, paid tribute to the mother-of-four on Facebook today saying 'she meant the world to me'

The devastated sister of a mother-of-four who was killed in a house fire in Greater Manchester has said ‘she meant the world to me’ in a touching tribute.

Kate Mulcahy, 37, was found dead after a fierce blaze broke out at a £1.2m home at Ramsden Farm, a cluster of upmarket homes off Roundthorn Road, Middleton, in the early hours of Sunday.

The devoted mother had had twin boys — who were born last year — and two girls.

The children managed to escape the blaze unharmed, but Ms Mulcahy could tragically not be saved.

Paying tribute to Ms Mulcahy, her heartbroken sister Emma Cropper today said she was the ‘best mum, sister and auntie’ whose ‘kindness, laughter and warmth touched so many lives’.

Ms Cropper added her sister was an ‘outstanding mum’ and will be ‘missed deeply’.

Sharing the tribute in a public post on Facebook, Ms Cropper said: ‘Hey everyone, thank you so much for all the support received. She really was the best and I will miss her until my last breath.

‘As everyone knows she meant the world to me and my girls and words can’t express how deeply she’ll be missed.

‘My mum and dad are truly devastated and in a complete state of shock.

‘She really was the best Mum, Sister & Auntie and I can’t imagine a world without her in it.

‘I’m so lucky as we have so many memories shared but so sad we won’t make anymore.

“My darling sister Kate Elizabeth , I will love and miss the joy you brought to this world forever.

‘Thank you for everything, I promise your children will never forget what an outstanding mum you really were.’

Her father Peter Cropper has spoken about his daughter’s death.

Speaking at his detached home in New Moston, just ten minutes from where his daughter lived, Mr Cropper said: ‘It’s a tragic accident.

‘That is all I want to say at this time. I don’t want to comment further.’

A joint investigation by Greater Manchester Police and the fire brigade is taking place. No arrests have been made.

Formal identification has not yet taken place, but Mrs Mulcahy’s family is being supported by specially-trained officers.

The house, neighbours said, was recently put up for sale, with signs appearing outside ‘four or five weeks ago’.

An online listing for the house put its value at £1.2m. The listing has now been removed.

Shocked neighbours have also paid tribute to Ms Mulcahy.

Crime scene specialists have been seen inside the house. Flowers and tributes had been placed on the front lawn.

A skylight appeared to have been damaged and roof tiles had been dislodged.

Carol Duggan, who lives in nearby Round Thorn Road, said: ‘I got up at 5am because I couldn’t sleep. It was very bright outside and I went to see what was going on.

‘There were fire engines. In the morning I walked down and saw it had been cordoned off.’

Another neighbour said: ‘It’s devastating. Everyone is in shock.’
