Krays: London's Gangsters | Daily Mail Online

Documentary revisiting the story of the notorious 1960s villains

Year: 2025

Despite having already inspired countless documentaries and TV shows, and at least one excellent film (1990s The Krays starring Gary and Martin Kemp), the story of Reggie and Ronnie Kray and their rise to power in the criminal underworld of London’s East End in the 1950s and 1960s still remains fascinating.

This documentary covers all the ground you’d expect – from the violent murders that made them feared to the connections with the celebrity high-life of Soho that made them famous – but also tries to unpick the nature of the fraught and complicated relationship between the twin brothers.

It’s helped no end in this by access to never-before-heard recordings of the pair from their days in prison that reveal some of the truth about the way they regarded one another. It offers a compelling glimpse behind their brutal swagger.
