Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) is no stranger to being targeted, vilified, and harassed by members of her own party to the point of even getting stalked going into the women’s restroom.

Through it all, Sinema usually takes it in stride, occasionally trolling her most persistent critics while at other times taking to the floor of the Senate to remind them that she’s not backing down.

I suspect even now, after finding out that she will lose the endorsements of two pro-abortion so-called “women’s groups” if she doesn’t change her stance on the filibuster rule, that Sinema is probably off sipping tea somewhere with an “I couldn’t care less” look written all over her face:

Describing the country as being “at an inflection point in the fight for voting rights and reproductive freedom,” Emily’s List President Laphonza Butler said in a statement Tuesday that the group’s mission “is not possible without free and fair elections.”

“So, we want to make it clear: if Sen. Sinema can not support a path forward for the passage of this legislation, we believe she undermines the foundations of our democracy, her own path to victory and also the mission of EMILY’s List, and we will be unable to endorse her moving forward,” Butler said.

[…]

NARAL said Tuesday that it is changing its endorsement criteria because “our democracy is on the line.”

“The freedom to vote is a fundamental freedom—inextricably linked to reproductive freedom,” the group said in a tweet. “NARAL’s commitment to voting rights is unwavering. We won’t endorse any senators who don’t support changing the Senate rules to pass the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act.”

Here are the statements the two groups posted to Twitter Tuesday:

While I’d like to see a Republican in this seat, if a Democrat is in it, it’s obviously better for Republicans if it’s Sinema and not another one.

Why should Sinema not care about potentially losing these two endorsements? Because she doesn’t need them to win reelection.

Though Sinema’s stances on abortion pretty much line up with both groups, Arizona has a history of electing both pro-choice and pro-life politicians at a statewide level. So it’s not like most voters are hinging their support of her based on what NARAL and Emily’s List think. Plus, whatever she loses from an advertising/money standpoint will be offset by other more moderate groups who support Sinema and who will step in to fill the void.

But beyond that, Sinema shouldn’t even want nor seek out their endorsement, considering just like most “feminist” groups they are nothing but sellouts, which was confirmed by the hypocritical joint statement they issued after then-candidate for president Joe Biden denied Tara Reade’s allegations of sexual assault:

“It is critical that women be heard, that they be allowed to tell their stories without personal attacks or a system that shuts them down. Today, Joe Biden addressed Tara Reade’s claims. Voters deserve the chance to hear from Biden, especially given how much is at stake in this election, and today they did.

For too long, women have been ignored, dismissed or demeaned. At a time when women’s rights are constantly under attack, we know that women and women’s groups cannot solve these deeply entrenched issues alone. It’s on all of us to stand up and fight for a system that treats everyone equitably and protects all of our rights.

Just as Biden has listened and led in the past on the Violence Against Women Act, we now need him to lead us forward to create the sort of systems where survivors’ claims are taken seriously and justice and healing are possible.

In other words “believe all women” to groups like NARAL and Emily’s List only apply to women who accuse pro-life men of sexual assault, like Brett Kavanaugh for instance. Beyond that, it’s “believe the Democrat” because preserving the “right” to terminate an unborn child is more of a priority to them than anything else, including objectively listening to women’s stories of alleged sexual harassment/abuse.

While I’ve never been a proponent of the “Believe All Women” mantra, I do believe in holding the left to their own standards. In this case, when credible allegations of sexual assault were made against Biden, they chose to turn their backs because abortion and because Orange Man Bad.

“Joe Biden might be a rapist, but I’ll support him anyway” was a common refrain expressed by many supposed “feminists” in 2020, which is yet another reason why no self-respecting politician on either side of the aisle should give even the tiniest rip about what they have to say about anything.
