Lady recounts how she had to pay to retrieve her phone from street urchins who seized it and were about to sell it after it fell from her bag

A Nigerian lady has shared the story of how she paid some money to retrieve her phone on the streets of Lagos. In a series of tweets, the lady said she had just alighted from a commercial bus and was about to pay the driver when her phone fell from her bag. She said some area boys immediately picked the phone and said they will not hand it to her because ‘’they found it” and that she has to pay some money to retrieve it.

 She said they began to contact people who purchased and resold stolen phones. The lady said the miscreants initially asked for N70, 000 but she was able to plead with them and they accepted N15, 000.

She said while all this was happening, cars passed by without stopping to help her.
