Lagos police rescue children locked up in a house by their grandmother

The police in Lagos state have arrested a grandmother, Fatimo Ganiyu, for allegedly locking up her underaged grandchildren in her home in the Ikotun area of the state.

Ganiyu was arrested on April 17 after her neighbours in Agodo Egbe Ikotun alerted the Divisional Police Officer at the Ikotun police division that the woman locked up her three grandchildren, two boys and a girl between the ages of two and four, in her house.

The DPO immediately led a team of police officers to the scene who were able to rescue the children who looked unhealthy and malnourished.

The suspect is currently in police custody while the children are receiving proper treatment and care.
