Update: Last WhatsApp voice note of Ebonyi varsity student who committed suicide after repeatedly failing a course
A final year student of the Ebonyi State University (EBSU) Favour Ugwuka, left a WhatsApp voice note lamenting her ordeal in the hands of a lecturer before she committed suicide.

LIB earlier reported that Favour was found dead behind her hostel at the Ishieke Campus of the university in Abakaliki on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, after allegedly taking a poisonous substance suspected to be sniper.

According to Punch, the student of the Department of English and Literary Studies passed all her courses but repeatedly failed a particular course, whose lecturer had allegedly vowed she would never pass.

A video seen online by LIB shows the deceased mother lamenting and blaming a lecturer for making her daughter commit suicide.

In the circulating voice note, the deceased said she’s being maltreated because she’s not an indigene of Ebonyi State and has no connection.

According to her, she had never received any references from her first year until her final year. Her only reference was from that of this particular lecturer.

Favour further disclosed that she paid N130,000 Naira for an extra year, and the same lecturer failed her again.

The deceased burst into tears, saying that she would leave the certificate for them.
