Left-wing activists target the King's throne in House of Lords

Left-wing activists have staged a protest targeting the King’s throne in the House of Lords.

Campaigners clambered over barriers during a tour of Parliament before revealing a banner that said: ‘Replace the Lords.’

They are believed to be from the recently formed protest group Assemble.

The group said some of its members were detained by the Metropolitan Police but later released.

Photos showed people trying to unravel their purple banners as police intervened.
