We reported on the stunning news on Thursday that New York Attorney General Letitia James had been indicted by a federal grand jury in Virginia.
A federal grand jury in Virginia charged James with bank fraud and making false statements to a financial institution. The indictment centers on James’ purchase of a home in Norfolk. Prosecutors allege she falsely claimed it as a second residence to secure better loan terms before leasing it to tenants. [….]
“No one is above the law. The charges as alleged in this case represent intentional, criminal acts and tremendous breaches of the public’s trust,” Halligan said. “The facts and the law in this case are clear, and we will continue following them to ensure that justice is served.”
James has denied the charges and terming the indictment “political retribution.” Liberal media is, of course, being liberal media and falling right in line with the Democratic narrative.

One of the worst takes had to be this one from CNN’s Kasie Hunt. It’s the “Everybody does it” take.
CNN: “Everyone in America commits mortgage fraud!”
— Breaking911 (@Breaking911) October 10, 2025
On CNN’s “The Arena,” Hunt said:
“We’re still getting the details, but if it’s related to this mortgage issue, I mean this is something that everyone in America, or many people at least, if you’re lucky enough to be able to buy a house in America, you deal with this, right? The federal government doesn’t go after all of these people, um, for doing this.”
That’s a pretty stunning take. No, everybody doesn’t do it, and many Americans responded to that clip on X to assure Kasie Hunt of that fact.
What happened to the Democrat and media chant of “No one is above the law”?

Can we remind Hunt of Letitia James’ own words?
When powerful people cheat to get better loans, it comes at the expense of hardworking people.
Everyday Americans cannot lie to a bank to get a mortgage, and if they did, our government would throw the book at them.
There simply cannot be different rules for different people.

Why didn’t they have this “Everybody does it” take when it came to President Donald Trump? The hypocrisy and bias are incredible.
It apparently was okay with the media that James ran on a promise of getting Trump. Where was the media pointing out the problems there? That wasn’t viewed as going after a political opponent. They appear to see no issue with that, and most had no issue with the law being twisted into a pretzel in the process.
First five minutes of CNN discussion of Letitia James indictment focuses solely on Trump, retribution, DOJ, etc. Finally someone briefly mentions merits of the case. His view: ‘She does have a problem.’ Discussion quickly returns to Trump, retribution, DOJ, etc.

The media may try to spin this matter and talk about political retribution.
But the media can’t change the facts in the case, and the jury is going to see them.
