Little Egg Harbor NJ fatal crash kills two on parkway

LITTLE EGG HARBOR – Two people died Friday night following a head-on collision in the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway, State Police said.

According to police reports, Michelle L. Ross, 50, from Asheville, North Carolina, was driving a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander in a southbound lane and Cortney L. Downey, 32, of Northfield, Atlantic County, was driving a Toyota Corolla also in the southbound lanes.

The two vehicles crashed in the area of milepost 59.3 in what police called “an opposite direction head-on collision” at 9:23 p.m., shutting down traffic at exit 63.

The Mitsubishi overturned in the collision and both drivers were pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation and there was no additional information available, police said.
