‘Several’ people have been injured in a horrific six vehicle pile up which saw a lorry smash through central reservation before crashing into other road users.
One person has been rushed to Salford Royal hospital with serious injuries, while four others are being assessed by medics at the scene on the M60 motorway, M.E.N reports.
A shocking video from the scene shows multiple emergency vehicles rushing past gridlocked traffic with their sirens blaring out.
The video then jumps to show at least half a dozen emergency services gathered close to the crash site.
A section of the M60 motorway near Salford remains closed and emergency services are currently still present.
Greater Manchester Police said: ‘We are responding to a collision on the M60 motorway at junction 15 in Swinton involving an HGV crossing the central reservation, into the opposite lane, before going into the embankment.
‘At approximately 7pm this evening (20/03/2025), the HGV crashed into six vehicles.
‘The M60 is closed clockwise and anticlockwise between junction 15 and 16. Several people have been injured and paramedics are on scene.
‘We ask motorists to avoid this section of the M60 this evening. Your patience is appreciated as emergency services continue to provide medical aid and investigate the incident.’

National Highways said: ‘At least one vehicle which has crossed through the central reservation barrier’ National Highways said.
They added: ‘The road is likely to be closed for some time’.
The motorway is shut both ways with diversions in place.

A witness who drove past the scene of the crash told M.E.N: ‘I’ve never seen a response like it. Central reservation was flattened and I could see loads of emergency response.’
