A security alert was triggered at the White House on Thursday afternoon after a man attempted to scale a perimeter fence, leading to a swift takedown by US Secret Service agents.
The individual, whose identity has not yet been released, reportedly made a dash for an entrance gate in an attempt to breach the complex.
Secret Service personnel intercepted the man almost immediately, tackling him to the ground before he could gain further access. A local witness reported a sudden burst of activity as agents swarmed the area.

One person is reportedly in custody, and another sustained minor injuries.
This latest incident adds to a long history of ‘fence-jumping’ attempts at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Officers have since cleared the immediate area, however a heavy security presence remains around the entrance gates.
