10 Anticipated TV Shows Coming in 2024

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, and Daredevil: Born Again are debuting in 2024. Here’s how fans can watch each show

“Because we’re dealing with a story that is more street-level, it is a little more grounded and a little more visceral. We’re leaning into the TV-MA aspect of it,” Echo director Sydney Freeland teased about what makes the show different from the other Marvel series on Disney+. On the titular character not being more villainous than heroic, Freeland added, “One of the big things when I first came on was talking to Marvel and saying, ‘Well, she’s a villain in Hawkeye, and to me, that’s the most interesting thing about her.’ And their response was, ‘Let’s lean into that, let’s explore that.’”

Freeland continued, “As we progressed through the production, I had the chance to say, ‘Okay so what if this guy gets his head smashed onto the table, and actually loses a couple of teeth?’ That’s the character and that’s the world: She’s a criminal, and she’s a villain, she’s killing people. And the response was, ‘Yeah, let’s try it!’”

Echo Is the First Marvel Spotlight Series

Another first for Echo is that it will be kicking off the Marvel Spotlight banner. This will include more grounded and character-driven stories that are different in tone to most other installments of the MCU. The upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again is also expected to fall under this umbrella.

Marion Dayre developed Echo, based on the Marvel Comics character. Alaqua Cox plays the titular role, returning from her debut in Hawkeye alongside Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk. The series also includes a special appearance from Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, with other stars of the show including Tantoo Cardinal, Chaske Spencer, Devery Jacobs, Zachn McClarnon, Cody Lightning, and Graham Greene.

Echo will premiere on Jan. 9, 2024, on Hulu and Disney+.
