A horror shooting broke out at a Stockton, California, Dairy Queen on Saturday night leaving ‘multiple people in hospital’.
Vice Mayor Jason Lee confirmed the incident via Facebook describing it as a ‘mass shooting at a child’s birthday party.’
‘An ice cream shop should never be a place where families fear for their lives,’ he wrote.
Sources have said that shots were fired at the Dairy Queen on Thornton Road.
‘Violence touched my life as a young person, and seeing our own children, parents, and neighbors go through this shakes me deeply,’ continued Lee.
‘Stockton is my home. These are our families. This is our community.’
Lee said he was in contact with public safety officials and will be ‘pushing for answers.’
‘Our community deserves to know the truth, and the families impacted deserve justice and every resource available to support them,’ he wrote.

Videos shared to the Citizen app and social media show a huge response from emergency services close to the fast food restaurant in Stockton, California.
Police tape sealed off the area around the eatery.
People were quick to express their horror and anguish of the night’s events, commenting on Lee’s post.
‘Stockton needs change so bad . This breaks my heart,’ one Facebook user said.
Another added: ‘Get these guns off the streets, this is terrible. Babies getting shot.’
While a third said: ‘Prayers to all and especially our babies that did not deserve to experience and witness such horror.’
Police said that some victims have been taken to the hospital. The number and their condition was not released
Little information has been confirmed by police, as they posted a statement on social media.
‘The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting in the 1900 block of Lucile Avenue in Stockton. Several victims have been transported to local hospitals,’ police posted on Facebook.
‘This remains an active scene, and deputies are working to gather additional details. Information is still being confirmed and will be released as it becomes available,’ the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office added.
Police have not disclosed the number of victims or their conditions.
Officers have warned residents to stay out of the area.
Stockton is located along the San Joaquin River in central California.
