I'm sorry — are we hearing this right? After all this time, the lies and obfuscations, Hunter Biden is admitting the laptop is his?

I’m sorry — are we hearing this right? After all this time, the lies and obfuscations, Hunter Biden is admitting the laptop is his?

Not only that: He wants a criminal investigation, at taxpayer expense, into how his laptop became public — even though he himself left it in John Paul Mac Isaac’s Delaware computer repair shop and signed a document forfeiting ownership if he left it there longer than 90 days! Also, he would like everyone involved in leaking its contents, which point to Hunter’s own potential criminal activity, to be punished.

Yes, if anyone is the victim here, it’s Hunter Biden.

Wow. And wouldn’t you know: not a chirp of apology or outrage from the liberal media, which has spent the past two-plus years in collusion with Joe Biden, Hunter, the FBI and social media giants dismissing the laptop as fake, a Russian plant, a tool of the hard right to sway the 2020 election.

And it gets better! Hours after this admission from Hunter’s assuredly well-paid legal team, they walked it back. Anyone else have whiplash?

‘These letters do not confirm Mac Isaac’s or others’ versions of a so-called laptop,’ said Hunter’s lawyers. ‘They address their conduct of seeking, manipulating, and disseminating what they allege to be Mr. Biden’s personal data, wherever they claim to have gotten it.’

So, just to clarify: As of Thursday morning, the laptop was Hunter’s, but as of Thursday afternoon, maybe it wasn’t?

Now, it turns out, this may all be about petty revenge. John Paul Mac Isaac is suing the president’s son for defamation.

Does anyone else feel like Hunter Biden and his legal team are gaslighting us?

Also: Why is the liberal media ignoring one of the laptop’s darkest revelations?

As DailyMail.com exclusively reported Tuesday, Hunter Biden, 52, demanded that his then-29-year-old assistant, a woman of color, engage with him sexually. He threatened to withhold her salary if she didn’t comply. This was a young woman who had to beg him so she could pay her rent.

I'm sorry — are we hearing this right? After all this time, the lies and obfuscations, Hunter Biden is admitting the laptop is his?

Talk about an actual victim.

Even New York magazine called what follows ‘a new low’ for our ignominious First Son. Sample Hunter’s texts to his subordinate as he further humiliates her by doling out $10 and $20 payments via ApplePay:

‘Set phone up [so] I can spy on you showering.’

‘You have to make up for back work [b]y [FaceTiming] me and/or going to our next-club party.’

‘If we FT the rule has to be no talk of anything but sex and we must be naked and we have to do whatever the other person asks within reason.’

‘Show me how you play with yourself [w]hen you’re all alone.’

Because it clearly must be asked: Imagine if this were the son of a sitting U.S. president on the other side of the aisle and there was no doubt that the texts and images and emails on this laptop were his. (Yes, even the New York Times and the Washington Post have come around on this; both outlets now admit the laptop is authentic.) Imagine the outcry! Imagine the reams of furious New York Times op-eds and the wall-to-wall MSNBC coverage and demands for an investigation into how this son — the personification of white male privilege! — was not only pocketing millions from foreign concerns while trading access to his father, but was likely sexually harassing and abusing young women in his employ.

This young woman, whose name DailyMail.com is withholding, is the fourth employee — that we know of — with whom Hunter was sexually involved.

Oh, and he filmed their sexual encounters and saved them on his laptop. Shades of blackmail?

In January 2019, this young woman emailed Hunter’s secretary, asking why she hadn’t received her December salary of $837.06 and why her health insurance was no longer working.

‘I haven’t been able to get any contact with Hunter,’ she wrote, ‘so I am completely in the dark.’

Does this remotely sound like a relationship of equals? Andrew Cuomo, rightly, was forced to resign over less.

How is it that Hunter Biden, degenerate extraordinaire, remains a political martyr of the left? He embodies everything that liberals, feminists, the woke brigade, and any decent human being revile. Yet to much of the American media, he remains a member of their protected class, a victim of GOP dirty tricks. Hunter is their pet, a lovable rapscallion who may be a former crack addict, who may have taken some ill-gotten millions, who had access to top-secret documents illegally sitting in his father’s garage, but hey — bygones. It’s not that bad.

So goes the hive mind. But that takes a level of ignorance that’s not just willful — it’s hypocritical and it’s journalistic malpractice. It’s ignoring evidence of possible criminal activity. If the mainstream media were honest, they’d admit the subtext here: Anyone is better than Donald Trump. We had to discredit the laptop in the run-up to the 2020 election. Too much was at stake.

What will they do now? Anything?

Because the obvious clearly needs to be stated: It is not the job of journalists and news outlets to decide what information we, the electorate, are privy to. It is not the job of news organizations to put their substantial weight on the scales of a presidential election. Nor is it the job of social media giants to censor news reports that they find inconvenient. It is not their job to take the FBI at face value when they claim reports of the laptop were ‘misinformation.’

Not since the Kennedy administration has the mainstream media behaved so deferentially.

Hunter, through his hiring of Russian and Ukrainian escorts in the U.S., is potentially linked to an Eastern European human trafficking ring, according to a letter sent to the DOJ by U.S. Senators.

He uses racial slurs, writing to one Chicago lawyer: ‘how much money do I owe you. Because n***a you better not be charging me Hennessey rates.’ That ‘Hennessey’ reference is also a racial dig.

He saved a memo joking that his father called President Obama ‘my n***a.’

Hunter’s defenders, no doubt, would argue that he’s joking, that he doesn’t really mean it. Amazing, this obvious and insulting double standard. To quote Maya Angelou: When people show you who they are, believe them.

Hunter lied on a federal form to obtain a firearm, answering ‘no’ to the question of illegal substance abuse. He later admitted, in the memoir he was paid a reported $2 million to write, that he was a crack addict at the time.

This was treated as a bold, brave admission by one of our leading Democratic scions, instead of what it was: Another big lie, one he was handsomely remunerated for admitting. Hunter was an active drug addict, with children, who lied so he could buy a gun.

How is any of this not a big deal?

The gun Hunter obtained, by the way, was illegally tossed into a trash can — near a high school! — by his then-girlfriend Hallie Biden, his brother Beau’s widow. The Secret Service denied intervening but has since been found to have intervened. Oh, and Hallie and her sister — with whom Hunter was exchanging sexually explicit messages — were reportedly both on his company’s payroll.

Hunter is under investigation for tax evasion. He sells artwork for hundreds of thousands of dollars to anonymous buyers. He was thrown out of the Navy after testing positive for cocaine.

Setting aside his history of lying and likely illegal activity, Hunter is a terrible person. He has a four-year-old daughter whom he has disowned. He has petitioned a court to reduce his child support payments and to prevent his daughter from using his surname.

Could it be his shame that his daughter’s mother is a former stripper? Could it be that Hunter Biden is — gasp — a misogynist?

Seems obvious to me, but that’s a question few in mainstream newsrooms are willing to explore. And while Hunter may not be an active addict, he engages in addict behavior. While promoting his memoir of healing and redemption — accountability, if you will — he was still lying, minimizing, blame-shifting and denying. Here’s his exchange with Tracy Smith of CBS News in April 2021:

Smith: ‘Was that your laptop?’

Hunter: ‘For real, I don’t know.’

Smith: ‘I know. But you know that, this isn’t . . .’

Hunter: ‘But my point is, I really don’t know. The answer is: That’s the truthful answer.’

Smith: ‘You don’t know, yes or no, if the laptop was yours?’

Hunter: ‘I don’t have any idea. No idea whether or not . . .’

Smith: ‘So: Could have been yours?’

Hunter: ‘Of course, certainly. There could be a laptop out there that was stolen from me. It could be that I was hacked. It could be that it was Russian intelligence. It could be that it was stolen from me.’

Smith: ‘And you didn’t drop off a laptop to be repaired in Delaware?’

Hunter: ‘No. Not that I remember at all. At all. So, we’ll see.’

Nearly two years later, Hunter Biden has finally owned it: The laptop is his. And so Hunter now owns everything that has come out and will come out. Will the mainstream media finally follow suit?

To paraphrase Hunter: Guess we’ll see.
