Meghan Markle’s jam has been included in a US TV round-up of pop culture moments in 2025 ‘to say goodbye to’ along with Labubu dolls, the 6-7 meme and Katy Perry’s much-mocked space flight.
Viewers were split over whether the mention of Meghan’s fruit spread by Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen on their CNN ‘New Year’s Eve Live’ show in Times Square was high-praise or a devastating burn.
Cooper, 58, and Cohen, 57, were hosting the show for the ninth year straight and as always enjoyed a few drinks while they saw in 2026 together in New York.
In one comical part of the show, the friends again read their own version of the children’s book Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown, just before midnight.
Each year it contains a number of pop culture references – some good and bad – and invariably the hosts burst out laughing. As they said goodbye to 2025, the Duchess of Sussex got a mention in the first few lines.
‘Goodnight Labubu, clipped to a Birkin, goodnight Kim Kardashian’s shapewear, complete with a merkin’, Cooper said after comically mispronouncing Labubu.
‘Good night Coldplay kisscam. Goodnight Meghan Markle jam’, Andy Cohen continued before he took a gulp of his tequila.

Meghan’s fans were delighted with the mention of her As Ever jam, which launched in 2025
Cooper and Cohen then said their goodbyes to KPop Demon Hunters, Coldplay’s kisscam, Katy Perry in space, Nicole Kidman’s ‘post break-up hair’ and the ‘brotherly love’ in White Lotus.
There were also good wishes for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce ahead of their marriage and praise for the reunion of Destiny’s Child at a Beyonce gig over the summer.
The Goodnight Moon skit, which takes place every year, has split viewers.
Meghan supporter’s, known as the Sussex Squad, claimed that the mention of her As Ever jam was a sign that she is ‘centre stage’ in the US.
One fan tweeted: ‘The relevance that is Meghan Sussex – she matters. #WeLoveYouMeghan’.
Another wrote: ‘Starting the new year with love and appreciation. May she feel that love all year round’.
But others were less impressed.
A critic of Meghan said: ‘It really is fascinating to watch her fans twist anything around to give the appearance of success’.
Another said: ‘No more free jam for Anderson Cooper’ – a nod to the fact that he interviewed Harry after he released Spare.
A third wrote: ‘This was not flattering at all’.
Cohen took a gulp of booze after he read the line about the Duchess of Sussex
Cooper and Cohen’s show has a cult following in the US – especially as they always appear to get tipsy
In the same show Andy Cohen unleashed a wild rant about outgoing New York City Mayor Eric Adams that left Anderson Cooper visibly cringing live on CNN.
Cohen and Cooper were putting away drinks for hours and bantering live during the network’s coverage of the celebrations in New York City.
Soon after the ball dropped in Times Square, Cohen, with a drink in his hand, said: ‘Watching the final moments of Mayor Adams’s chaotic…’
Before he could finish his thought, Cooper interrupted and said: ‘Oh no. I’m out.’
Cohen continued, ‘I just want to say…’ before Cooper interrupted him again. ‘Don’t,’ he said while attempting to walk out of frame.
But the camera panned out to keep the co-host in frame. ‘He got his pardons,’ Cohen continued with a slight slur, before Cooper said ‘I’m out’ once again.
‘I’m just saying, great, you got your pardons. Go off into the sunset,’ Cohen said. ‘We’ll fiddle with what we have, with what you’ve left us with.’
‘He can’t help himself,’ Cooper then said.
