Monmouth County GOP maintained its lock on countywide offices as incumbent Commissioner Sue Kiley nabbed a second term and Middletown resident Maureen Raisch got the nod to be the next County Surrogate, according to preliminary election results.

The election, which had at least a 42% turnout, ran smoothly in Monmouth County, which deployed new voting machines and new electronic poll books at more than 450 voting districts. County election officials, like their counterparts across the state, faced some issues in the morning with state-supplied internet connections, but were able to resolve issues quickly.

New Jersey law allows mail-in ballots to be received by the Board of Election up to six days after close of the polls, provided the ballot is post marked on Election Day.
