Father Christmas and his reindeers have left the North Pole as they embark on an epic round-the-world mission to deliver presents to children across the globe.

Anyone wanting to keep tabs on St Nick’s sleigh or wondering when to leave out the mince pies and carrot can keep on top of his movements with the annual NORAD Santa Tracker.

NORAD, otherwise known as North American Aerospace Defense Command, has tracked Santa for the past 70 years using advanced radar and satellite technology.

Families can visit the official NORAD Tracks Santa website or use dedicated apps to follow his journey in real-time.

Santa visits Big Apple as sleigh spotted circling Statue of Liberty

Santa’s sleigh circled the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building as Father Christmas and his elves made their journey through New York City.

The little boys and girls of the five boroughs were asleep in their beds when the sleigh full of toys traveled over the city, leaving joy and good cheer in its wake.

Santa continued his journey across the East Coast as Christmas Day was about to begin with midnight mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan.

Santa hits nation’s capital as sleigh spotted over Washington DC

Santa could be making his Christmas deliveries at the White House within minutes as his sleigh was spotted by NORAD over Washington DC.

Father Christmas was busy making boys and girls happy across the world on Christmas Eve after spending all year making a list and checking it twice.

He then headed up the East Coast and made his way to New York City.

Santa meets Canadian Air Force to escort him!

Santa was being escorted by CF-18 fighter jets as his sleigh approaches St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

NORAD confirmed Santa was being escorted be the Canadian Air Force in case he met any resistance during his flight over North America.

Children in the US could be receiving presents within hours – unless they were naughty.

Greenland gets visit from Santa

Santa was busy delivering presents to the good little boys and girls of Greenland.

The reindeer were preparing to make the trek all the way to the US.

Milk and cookies are optional.

That’s a long way from the North Pole!

Father Christmas has found himself very far from home, as he flies over the Palmer Research Station in Antarctica.

Santa must be thrilled to be able to see all the South Pole wildlife he cannot spot back at the North Pole – most notably penguins, which are not found in the Arctic.

Father Christmas reaches Dublin!

Top of the morning – quite literally! Santa has just reached the capital of Ireland in the small hours of Christmas Day.

Santa is making his way to Paris, where children will be delighted to see Pere Noel making a stop.

Just a hop, skip and a jump across the Channel from the city of lights and he will be in the UK. Brits can only hope.

Children anxious to catch a glimpse of Father Christmas will be excited to learn the big man has returned to Europe from Africa.

He is currently heading for the popular coastal destination of Dubrovnik in Croatia, having just sorted out the small nation of San Marino.

His trip to the Balkans, over the Mediterranean Sea, leaves him still around 2,000 miles from this green and pleasant land.

But nevertheless, it seems he is gradually edging ever closer.
