HOWELL – Officials have identified the victim killed in a three-vehicle crash on Route 33 Friday.
Robert C. Johnson, 50, of Neptune, died on the scene after his Dodge Challenger was struck by a Ford F-150, Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Chris Swendeman said.
Police responded to the accident near the intersection of Route 33 and Colts Neck Road just after midnight Friday, the Prosecutor’s Office said.
Investigators determined that the Ford F-150 was traveling west on the highway when it crossed the center line and collided with a Kia Rio that was traveling in the opposite direction before colliding with Johnson’s vehicle, officials said.
The driver of the Ford F-150 was ejected from the vehicle and is still at an area hospital in critical condition, authorities said.
