Plaskett Delivers Jaw-Dropping Explanation of Why She Texted Jeffrey Epstein During Congressional Hearing – RedState

Democrat Del. Stacey Plaskett (VI-At Large) continued her whirlwind public tour in which she’s tried to convince anyone who will listen that texting sex predator Jeffrey Epstein during a congressional hearing is totally normal.

It’s been a sight to see. Plaskett, who the Washington Post revealed was texting Epstein in real-time, steering her questioning of an anti-Trump witness at his direction, has offered some unique defenses.

Last night, some of the top minds in the Democrat party (which is akin to having a favorite STD) put their heads together and came up with the little-known “constituency defense.”

That is, as RedState’s Katie Jerkovich reported, Plaskett was involved in nothing nefarious. She was simply texting an average, everyday constituent.

“I got a text from Jeffrey Epstein, who at the time was my constituent,” Plaskett blathered about on the House floor. “Who…was not public knowledge at that time, that he was under federal investigation, and who was sharing information with me.”

Cute, Stacey. But not cute enough.

First, it’s not exactly common for members of Congress to wantonly text with constituents mid-hearing. Second, referring to Epstein as little more than a “constituent” is like referring to Bill Cosby as just a “Pudding Pop salesman” while neglecting his other obvious history.

Speaking of pudding, Plaskett showed her head consists primarily of that dessert, when, in an appearance on CNN this morning, she kept up that line as if it would actually be good enough to dupe the American people.

“So Jeffrey Epstein was a constituent. He was a resident of the Virgin Islands, lived there, I guess, more than half of the year because he was registered there,” she told Wolf Blitzer, later adding, “But like many constituents, individuals get your phone number. They text you about issues. They speak with you.”

Question for readers: How easy is it for you to get into direct contact with your congressional representatives? Do you think you could get direct text messages to them? Probably not.

Epstein had a direct line to Stacey Plaskett. Can you imagine for one moment if any of these Epstein file releases yielded information about text messages to and from the disgraced sex pervert with a Republican politician? Or the President? Think they’d be able to use the ‘meh, he’s just a constituent’ defense?

So, Stacey doubled down on stupid, which is not exactly a shocking revelation for her or most of the people in the Democrat party. Doubling down on stupid is practically a résumé enhancer for the resistance.

What is rather remarkable, however, is the following exchange.

“I believed that Jeffrey Epstein had information, and I was going to get information to get at the truth,” Plaskett explained before suggesting that, despite the ample donations he sent her over the years, he was not a friend.

But it wasn’t simply Epstein randomly offering up information, as the Washington Post reported; Plaskett initiated the conversation by texting him at 7:55 in the morning, before the hearing.

It gets worse. Plaskett demanded that the American people “move forward” and stop focusing so much on the fact that she had a seemingly cozy relationship (cozy enough that he would text about her “great outfit” and how nice she looked) with a sex offender.

“If individuals are not involved in illegal activity, extending his criminal enterprise or his financial enterprise, or all of those things, Plaskett said, “I think that you need to look at what people arguing moving forward (sic).”

And that right there is where it all falls apart—not involved in illegal activity? Epstein had already been convicted in 2008 by a Florida state court of procuring a child for prostitution and of soliciting a prostitute.

It’s one thing to lie, which Democrats do as easily and without much thought as they draw breath into their lungs. But to dismiss Epstein as a squeaky-clean constituent is next-level gaslighting. Listen, if he wasn’t involved in illegal activity, why couldn’t you be friends with him? It’s such a tangled web of lies, and she can’t keep up.

Even CNN noticed. Pamela Brown interjected at this point, revealing the obvious.

“Wait, let me just try to understand that, what is that point? Because at the time he was a known sex offender. And it had been detailed, all the sexual …” Brown inquired.

“There are a lot of people who have done a lot of crimes,” Plaskett scoffed. “And as a prosecutor, you get information from people where you can.”

None of that should fly as a defense. It’s a naked attempt to gloss over the relationship, hoping the American people fall for it.

They. Think. You’re. Dumb.

If that isn’t textbook projection, I’m not sure what is.
