The Saltburn actor, 68, and Absolutely Fabulous actress, 79, were among the British stars to grace the magazine’s October edition.

The edition is a Jane Asher inspired fancy dress feature and marks the first time in the title’s 44 year history that a person, actor Richard, has featured on the front cover.

In quirky tribute to the iconic 1983 classic, Jane Asher’s Fancy Dress, The World of Interiors invited a host of British National Treasures.

Richard and Joanna are joined by Jo Brand, and even Jane Asher herself, to don costumes for a 20-page special feature showcasing the season’s new fabric collections.

Comedian Jo, 68, is seen dressed as flowers while It’s A Sin co-stars Olly Alexander and Omari Douglas also feature as columns, with Omari appearing again later as a table set for high-tea.

The full list of talent is completed with Jane Asher as a pair of curtains and again with husband Gerald Scarfe as a fork and spoon, The World of Interiors Editor Emily Tobin as a paintbrush, Zandra Rhodes as a fabergé egg, Adeel Akhtar as a bookcase, George Riley as a vase, Kathryn Hunter as a Calder mobile, Stephen Jones as a mirror, and Imogen Heap as an Anglepoise lamp.

Speaking on the October issue, editor Emily, said: ‘Jane Asher’s Fancy Dress is a fabulously silly compendium of craft at its most joyful and, upon its rediscovery, it quickly became our set text for the October issue, helping us to showcase the season’s new collections in a way that felt handmade, lighthearted and fun.

‘There’s a lot to be said for taking the art of play very, very seriously, something we hope can be felt throughout the issue.’

Joanna’s appearance comes after it was revealed she is still raking in around £10,000-a-week aged 79.

The hugely popular TV and film star snagged a role in the second series of Netflix’s horror comedy-drama Wednesday.

The star, best known for her outrageous portrayal of Patsy Stone in the 90s sitcom Absolutely Fabulous alongside Jennifer Saunders, has since been involved in a variety of major projects.

The former model, author and activist has featured in a number of successful films such as Paddington 2 and The Wolf of Wall Street, as well as popular UK series like Fool Me Once and Motherland, plus its spin-off Amandaland.

And her hard-work is reflected in the books of her production firm Chrysolite Enterprises Ltd.

Latest accounts show she earned £500,000 in 2024 in paid herself a £252,000 dividend. The firm also retains cash in its coffers of £686,000.

Joanna joined the cast of the hit Netflix show as none other than Wednesday Addams’ (played by Jenna Ortega) Grandma Hester Frump.

She was described as Morticia Addams’ (Catherine Zeta-Jones) ‘formidable mother and the fabulously wealthy mogul behind Frump Mortuaries’, one of the most successful companies in America.

Joanna also insisted that she hasn’t had a career but simply worked to earn enough money to ‘keep herself alive’.

The star brushed aside the notion that her path to success as an actress was carefully planned, instead noting that she had no idea of her ‘destiny’ as she went from role to role.

She was certain though that she just ‘loved’ to act and didn’t enter this ‘precarious profession’ for the fame or ‘stardom’.

Speaking to the Radio Times about her vocation, Joanna explained: ‘I’ve had no career – I was trying to earn money to keep myself alive.

‘I’ve never had any idea of a destiny or where my career would go and I have never ever asked myself, “Will this damage my career?” I loved acting, so that was going to be my chosen thing.

‘We actors just wanted to get to be better actors, and we wanted to work so we could pay the rent. We weren’t longing for stardom.

‘We’re jobbing actors and we’re no different, really, from painters and decorators.

‘It’s a precarious profession at the best of times and I’ve just done anything to keep my head above water.’

The October issue of The World of Interiors is available on newsstands and via digital download on Thursday September 4
